Boschendal, one of Cape Town’s oldest wine estates, returns with its annual Citrus Festival, where families from across the city gather to pick citrus fruits in a picturesque landscape while enjoying fresh food and live music.
Guests can explore the estate’s massive orchards and collect up to 3kg of hand-picked citrus fruit for themselves, all while being guided by the expert farming team. After returning from their citrus-picking journey, festivalgoers of all ages can enjoy a variety of experiences held in the lively social area.
There are multiple live music performances throughout the weekend by local artists, with comfortable seating so everyone can relax and enjoy the grooves. Kids are catered for with special activities to keep them busy while exploring the beautiful natural landscape of the Cape Winelands, including a bike track and tractor rides through the farm.
Lastly, the Citrus Festival hosts a lively market open all day for food, drinks, and family fun. Guests indulge in fresh farm fare, award-winning wines, and tons of local dishes and treats, all enjoyed alongside their freshly picked lemons, oranges, naartjies, and more.
Orchard access is carefully managed, and guests can only pick during their assigned time slots. Guests are asked to arrive at least 15 minutes before their allocated slot, as there is limited flexibility to accommodate late arrivals. Everyone is encouraged to book early, as slots fill up quickly.
