The Two Oceans Aquarium heads to various beaches across Cape Town to do their bit for conservation education for their Trash Bash event. This is the perfect opportunity for families to come together and learn about the dangers of plastic pollution and the importance of conservation awareness for biodiversity.

What is the Trash Bash?
The Trash Bash is an initiative dedicated to tackling plastic pollution and raising awareness about the harmful effects it has on marine ecosystems. By rolling up your sleeves and participating, you’re making a real difference for the environment while enjoying a morning at the beach.
Beach cleanups are an important way to draw people together to remove pollution from marine environments. The Two Oceans Aquarium believes strongly in the awareness-raising role of the Trash Bash events in making a difference.

Mission Blue’s Hope Spot Network
The Two Oceans Aquarium is part of the Mission Blue Hope Spot Network, which focuses on taking action to support ocean health and biodiversity. Creating awareness of ocean health as an issue ensures a growing community of people taking steps to protect the biodiversity of marine areas such as False Bay.
Mission Blue is a global initiative led by legendary oceanographer Dr. Sylvia Earle that inspires action to explore and protect the ocean. Currently, the Mission Blue alliance includes more than 200 respected ocean conservation groups and like-minded organisations, from large multinational companies to individual scientific teams doing important research.
Additionally, Mission Blue supports the work of conservation NGOs that share the mission of building public support for ocean protection
“Be a part of this exciting day out as we come together as a community to protect the precious biodiversity of our oceans. Let’s stop the cycle of pollution and remove litter from our beaches before it endangers the marine wildlife of False Bay,” said Helen Lockhart, Conservation and Sustainability Manager at the Two Oceans Aquarium.
