Rugby fans have the chance to experience the Springboks’ upcoming matches with big screens, great atmosphere, food, and drinks in The Best Seat Outside The Stadium this season.

On Saturday, 4 July, the boys play England in a highly anticipated match in the first-ever edition of the Nations Championships. The Springboks are looking to start their debut tournament run with a win, while England’s Red Roses look for revenge after losing to South Africa in the 2023 World Cup semi-finals.

The Boktown watch-party is being held at Bellville Velodrome, one of the Mother City’s largest event spaces. The entertainment line-up includes some hometown heroes and national icons, with Jimmy Nevis, DJ Ready D, Youngsta CPT, Biggy, and Nasty C scheduled to perform.

Sheer City

Sheer Disko

After uniting diverse underground nightlife collectives and LGBTQ+ culture for the first time earlier this year, Sheer City is back with another night of floor-rumbling, foot-thumping electronic music.

With Botanik Social House as the backdrop, guests can enjoy a beautiful view of the Company Gardens while taking in the psychedelic grooves of Mexican DJ star Rebolledo alongside local producers Resident DTK, Richard Marshall, El Gordo, and Wata Mami.

Noted by Forbes as one of the most important creatives in Mexico, Rebolledo is a DJ and electronic music producer known for his experimental brand of disco, techno, and tribal house. Starting in his home country, he has since become an international star, most famously performing with the Mayan Warrior collective at Burning Man and as one half of Pachanga Boys alongside Superpitcher.

Festival of Running

This celebration of athleticism and Cape Town takes runners from the Sea Point Promenade all the way down the peninsula’s coastal roads. With distances ranging from a half-marathon to a 50km ultra-marathon and even a 5x5km relay race, there are options for all fitness levels.

The event expects over 10 000 participants, all chasing medals along some of the best views the city has to offer, with the majority of the race taking place between Lion’s Head and the Atlantic Ocean.

Two Oceans Aquarium Members’ Sleepover

Aquarium members can join the annual Members’ Sleepover, where those with a passion for the ocean can spend time in the Aquarium, watch a movie, fall asleep next to sting rays, and wake up to a Sunday buffet breakfast. Attendees see the Aquarium, its exhibits, and animals in a completely new, after-dark atmosphere.

Kids get to use their imaginations as they make ocean-inspired crafts, enjoy a marine-themed movie, have their faces painted as their favourite underwater animal, and take part in an exciting adventure to find animals throughout the Aquarium.

Now in its third year, the two-day Sustainable Seafood Festival at Makers Landing focuses on sustainable seafood through fresh fish markets, cooking demonstrations, public filleting demos, food and beverage vendors, and education zones covering ocean and fishing practices.

By celebrating all things local & traceable seafood, the Sustainable Seafood Festival promotes an equitable, environmentally-friendly seafood industry that prioritises ethical consumption and production. One of the main attractions of the Sustainable Seafood Festival is a fresh fish market, where attendees can buy an extensive range of seafood products that are locally harvested and ethically sourced. Other attractions include a variety of food and beverage vendors, education workshops by various initiatives, and live entertainment throughout the event.

A Little Night Music

New directions follow in winter with Stephen Sondheim’s A Little Night Music at Theatre on the Bay. Set in Sweden in 1900 and inspired by Ingmar Bergman’s film Smiles of a Summer Night, the musical uses the waltz as its heartbeat as romance unravels over a single midsummer weekend. With sophistication, wit, and emotional finesse, and featuring the beloved song Send in the Clowns, the production offers a sparkling contrast to the season’s operatic intensity.

Jimmy Nevis: Roses & Thorns

Jimmy Nevis is working with SAMA-nominated producer Darren Petersen to debut an entirely new experience that combines a concert performance with theatrical monologues and live instrumentation. The immersive evening sees Nevis perform some of the hits that made him a local star, alongside brand-new tracks performed for the first time, accompanied by a full live band.

With a show that tackles difficult topics, including masculinity, grief, love, and violence, Roses & Thorns is a one-night-only event that kicks off a new chapter in Nevis’ work.

Mandela Day with Ladles of Love

Mandela Day is on the horizon, meaning that South Africans are once again encouraged to spend (at least) 67 minutes of their day helping out those less fortunate. By volunteering with Ladles of Love, Cape Town can support the nutrition and education of over 20,000 preschool children in impoverished communities across the country.

In Cape Town, everyone can join one of four activities at the DHL Stadium that can directly contribute to these groups. Each activation zone is clearly labelled, making it easy to decide between them. There are various time slots open at each Activation Zone, making it easier for everyone to find time in the day to help out.

Lesbian* Prom Night

This event is dedicated to reclaiming matric dances for Cape Town’s queer community, unapologetically filling the dance floor with classic tracks and sapphics looking to dance the night away. The dress code is open, and everyone is encouraged to dress up and celebrate as their authentic self, whether that’s in a sharp suit, a glittering gown, or anything in between.

Food Indaba

The Food Indaba brings together a wide range of speakers involved in shaping the food system, providing an opportunity for food growers, academics, activists, writers, nutritionists, policymakers, food lovers and anyone interested in sustainable approaches to engage in key issues connected to the food consumed and finding ways to work together in creating a better, more sustainable food future.

This year’s programme focuses on water and the food system, exploring how water moves through landscapes, bodies, and food systems throughout the country. Winter Flames: July at ROOI Grillroom

To celebrate the cold-weather season in Cape Town, ROOI is serving up an exclusive experience that continues its tradition of using local ingredients and sustainably sourced seafood. The four-course event starts with a creamy cauliflower soup garnished with toasted granola and parmesan, before moving on to a creative rooikrans-charred butternut barley with pickled butternut and smoked duck breast.

For the main course, guests can choose among three options, catering to meat-lovers, vegans, and pescatarians. The big attraction is a prime rump steak, cooked on a premium Josper grill, and served with a side of samp and beans casserole, fire-roasted carrots, and crispy bone marrow. Khayelitsha Fashion Week is a platform for emerging local designers to professionally showcase their latest creations on the runway. Celebrating its 11th anniversary, this year’s theme is “Trash To Trend”, with designers transforming recycled and waste materials into wearable fashion statements.

The production is high-quality, with the Artscape Theatre Centre featuring intricate lighting and sound, professional photography, and performances by industry-trained models. Recently marketed as the “Mother City Fashion Experience”, the event is as much a showcase for local fashion designers as it is a celebration of the talent and innovation coming out of Khayelitsha.

Puss In Boots Pantomime

Written and directed by Steven Stead, this family pantomime is presented by KickstArt Theatre, a Durban-based non-profit company with over 170 local and national awards and a two-decade track record of large-scale productions at major South African venues. The production follows last year’s warmly received Jack and the Beanstalk at the same venue, continuing KickstArt’s annual tradition of holiday-season pantomimes.

Set on a Caribbean island, the story centres on a quick-witted cat, armed with a clever plan and a pair of boots, who navigates magical twists and comic misadventures to alter his owner’s fortunes.

The production runs approximately two hours, including an interval, with weekday matinees and selected morning and afternoon performances throughout the school holiday period. It is recommended for children aged four and up.

Spier’s Routes of Sound

Following rave reviews in the previous two years, Brett Bailey and Third World Bunfight return with a bigger and better edition of The Routes of Sound, taking place at Spier Wine Farm from July. This immersive experience invites visitors to wander through the scenic estate’s lush gardens while enjoying a series of live acoustic performances over three weekends.

This winter special highlights talented local musicians from across the country, while guests try Spier’s award-winning Creative Block wines in some of the estate’s most distinctive, cosy spaces.

The first weekend (3 & 4 July) features many folk singer-songwriters, including Johannesburg-based vocalists Tubatsi and Chosi, Afrikaans singer-songwriter Magé Troskie, blues-rock musician Cheyenne Hill, Mickey Struwick (from Like the Mouse), and Freddy Lalendle (from Ntu2ko). The second weekend (31 July & 1 August) features Tshivenda singer-songwriter Muneyi, who won the 2025 Standard Bank Young Artist award. AllFashion Sourcing

South Africa’s leading fashion and textile trade event, Allfashion Sourcing, is shining a light on South Africa’s growing fashion and design industry. The programme includes a rundown of global fashion trends, sustainable design and materials, and out-of-this-world creativity.

Legacy In Every Note

Presented by Likwezi Arts, Legacy in Every Note is a five-concert mini tour in Cape Town marking more than two decades of artistic partnership between South African saxophonist McCoy Mrubata and American guitarist Gary Wittner. The tour moves through five intimate venues across the city, from the CBD to Noordhoek, Muizenberg and Langa.

The quartet is completed by bassist Sibusiso Matsimela, an established figure on the South African jazz scene with credits across numerous recordings and live collaborations, and drummer Joshua Klein, an emerging Cape Town-based musician and bandleader. The Sunday performance at Guga S’thebe in Langa, a short distance from Mrubata’s birthplace, features an additional guest appearance by Hlubi Kwebulana.

Each concert takes place in a different Cape Town venue, offering audiences across the city access to the same programme in settings ranging from a CBD bar to a community arts centre.

Bubble Planet at Willowbridge

WinterFest

WinterFest is an event dedicated to Cape Town’s All-African heavy metal scene, with its screeching guitars, crashing drums, and raspy vocals. The night features seven local bands at the “Headbangers Hall”, four DJs in charge of the “Serpent Pit”, drinks, and even a Metal Market.

2026’s band lineup includes up-and-coming Hardcore band The Dominion HxC, followed by the Durban-based doom-infused noise-scape of Strage. Previous Metal4Africa debutants are set to return, including Gqeberha’s Dead Man Risen, Cape Town’s eclectic reggae-hop-jungle-nu-metal-hybrid group Ill System, and Wacken Metal Battle finalists from 2025, the thrash band Halvar. Die Gemeente, a self-described “nu-metalcore” group from Pretoria, plays their second show in Cape Town before the event finishes off with Mpumalanga’s Eat The Elderly and their slam-driven death metal, serving as an energetic and loud closer.

Pretty Girls In Film

To celebrate women in the local film industry, Pretty Girls Like Events is hosting an evening for the community to socialise and connect. The programme features a curated selection of short films by local women filmmakers. After the screenings, there is a panel discussion where attendees can ask questions and converse with creators & creatives on their films, their subject matter, and issues surrounding women’s filmmaking in Cape Town.

To end off the night, guests hear live poetry from a variety of poets in the local creative scene. Vincent

Vincent – His Quest To Love And Be Loved, a three-time Naledi Award-winning musical theatre production, returns to play in front of many Western Cape communities this July, following its sold-out 2025 debut in London’s West End. Produced by the national touring company Wela Kapela, the show features acclaimed young actor Daniel Anderson as Van Gogh, with music by Cape Town Opera’s rehearsal pianist, Paul Ferreira.

Through reimagined renditions of classic pop, rock, jazz, and musical theatre hits, the production follows Van Gogh’s turbulent story, with Anderson bringing the iconic artist’s ever-relatable struggles, successes, and unending passion to life. Styled as a “multimedia musical cabaret”, the performance delves into Van Gogh’s lifelong need to create, love, and be loved on an emotional journey that connects modern audiences with the complex man.

Zeitz Winter Holiday Programme

Kids can join a series of workshops throughout the school holidays at the Zeitz MOCAA BMW Centre for Art Education. Using a variety of tools, from paint and magazine cuttings to fabric, kids bring their creativity to life in hands-on, guided sessions inspired by the museum’s current exhibitions.

Samthing Soweto Live

One of the country’s biggest Amapiano singer-songwriters, Samthing Soweto, is playing his 2025 album, ‘Touch is a Move: Good Morning’, live for the very first time.

The performance combines a full band, simple lighting, and Samthing’s soulful vocals for an intimate live show that focuses more on storytelling than on large-scale production. The album reflects various aspects of his troubled upbringing growing up in the kasi, with the music and lyrics portraying an ordinary day in his native Soweto as a five-year-old.

Families and first-time opera watchers are sure to enjoy the new English-language adaptation of Janáček’s The Cunning Little Vixen at the Joseph Stone Auditorium. Reimagined for Cape Town Opera by Alan Olejniczak, the work places nature, imagination and renewal at its centre, celebrating the cycle of life through the adventures of the mischievous Vixen Sharp-Ears.

The Cunning Little Vixen follows Sharp Ears, an energetic young fox, as she learns about the wonders of nature, friendship, and love following chance encounters with many animals and humans.

Hilton Schilder Trio Live at Alma Cafe

Best known for his work as a member of The Genuines, Iconoclast, and Sons of Table Mountain, ghoema and Cape Jazz icon Hilton Schilder performs an intimate live show at Alma Cafe this July. Known for his traditional Cape rhythms and proficiency with a wide range of instruments, Schilder has been part of the local music scene since the mid-1980’s, when The Genuines’ anti-apartheid hit ‘Die Struggle’ was banned in South Africa.

He is joined by bassist Clayton Norman Pretorius and Kurt Bowers on drums, two musicians who have worked with Schilder on numerous projects and live shows over the years. They bring their own improvisational flair to the performance, ensuring no two shows are the same.

Dinner, dessert, and drinks are available, with kitchen orders closing at 7pm. Live music starts after the dinner service is completed.
