Drag Queens Take Over Mavericks With Madame JoJo’s

Over the course of six weeks, Mavericks plays host to drag kings, queens, and in-betweens in a variety show where anything goes.

The night starts with half-priced cocktails from 7pm, followed by a mix of cabaret noir, sensual burlesque, surprise acts, and, of course, shows from many of the Mother City’s drag performers. After-dark is where the night kicks into gear, with DJs, go-go dancers, and a whole host of antics and mystery performances throughout the rest of the show – all hosted by Madame JoJo herself.

Madame JoJo’s: Six Nights Only

After a successful one-night competition of comedy acts and show-stopping lip-syncing from the Mother City’s fiery queens, Mavericks is becoming a regular platform for Madame JoJo’s shows and a home to Cape Town’s thriving drag community.

The event takes place in the club’s VIP Empire Lounge, Mavericks’ very own luxury section with deep leather couches reminiscent of 1920s gentlemen’s clubs, giving every viewer an exclusive experience as they take in the glamorous and provocative show inspired by the iconic London nightclub, Madame Jojo’s.

Everyone is encouraged to “dress beyond convention” as there is an award up for grabs for each night’s “best dressed” guest. Exclusive cabaret cone canapés are served throughout the night, made to pair with Mavericks’ handcrafted cocktails.

Each ticket includes exclusive entrance via the Empire Lounge, separate from the rest of the club. Reservations are not available; seating is first-come, first-served. Guests are encouraged to book early as capacity is limited.
