Rugby fans have the chance to experience the Springboks’ upcoming matches with big screens, great atmosphere, food, and drinks in The Best Seat Outside The Stadium this season.
On Saturday, 4 July, the boys play England in a highly anticipated match in the first-ever edition of the Nations Championships. The Springboks are looking to start their debut tournament run with a win, while England’s Red Roses look for revenge after losing to South Africa in the 2023 World Cup semi-finals.

Sheer Disko
After uniting diverse underground nightlife collectives and LGBTQ+ culture for the first time earlier this year, Sheer City is back with another night of floor-rumbling, foot-thumping electronic music.
With Botanik Social House as the backdrop, guests can enjoy a beautiful view of the Company Gardens while taking in the psychedelic grooves of Mexican DJ star Rebolledo alongside local producers Resident DTK, Richard Marshall, El Gordo, and Wata Mami.
Noted by Forbes as one of the most important creatives in Mexico, Rebolledo is a DJ and electronic music producer known for his experimental brand of disco, techno, and tribal house. Starting in his home country, he has since become an international star, most famously performing with the Mayan Warrior collective at Burning Man and as one half of Pachanga Boys alongside Superpitcher.

The start of the month once again means everyone is flocking to art galleries, music shows, and thrift pop-ups this Thursday.
It’s Christmas in July in Obs on Thursday (2 July), and Lower Main Road will be celebrating with beautiful lights, Christmas songs and lots of good cheer. Shops on the Thrift Trail will be spilling out onto the pavement, and in addition to rails and rails of great secondhand and sustainable fashion, there’ll be buskers, a food truck, and a whole lot of Christmas joy.

Puss In Boots Pantomime
Written and directed by Steven Stead, this family pantomime is presented by KickstArt Theatre, a Durban-based non-profit company with over 170 local and national awards and a two-decade track record of large-scale productions at major South African venues. The production follows last year’s warmly received Jack and the Beanstalk at the same venue, continuing KickstArt’s annual tradition of holiday-season pantomimes.
Set on a Caribbean island, the story centres on a quick-witted cat, armed with a clever plan and a pair of boots, who navigates magical twists and comic misadventures to alter his owner’s fortunes. The cast includes Rory Booth in the title role, Belinda Henwood as good fairy Calypso Honeybunch, Bryan Hiles as the villainous Grimsby Withergood, and Kyran Brady Taylor as Tom Marzipan. Design is by Greg King, choreography by Simone Mann, and lighting by Frany Steyn.
The production runs approximately two hours, including an interval, with weekday matinees and selected morning and afternoon performances throughout the school holiday period. It is recommended for children aged four and up.

Vincent
Vincent – His Quest To Love And Be Loved, a three-time Naledi Award-winning musical theatre production, returns to play in front of many Western Cape communities this July, following its sold-out 2025 debut in London’s West End. Produced by the national touring company Wela Kapela, the show features acclaimed young actor Daniel Anderson as Van Gogh, with music by Cape Town Opera’s rehearsal pianist, Paul Ferreira.
Through reimagined renditions of classic pop, rock, jazz, and musical theatre hits, the production follows Van Gogh’s turbulent story, with Anderson bringing the iconic artist’s ever-relatable struggles, successes, and unending passion to life. Styled as a “multimedia musical cabaret”, the performance delves into Van Gogh’s lifelong need to create, love, and be loved on an emotional journey that connects modern audiences with the complex man.
This Petit-Cape Tour sees the production come to the Mother City’s outer communities, rather than expecting audiences to travel far from home to see it. Friday Night Live with Keely Crocker
Curated by Kaya continues its series of intimate live shows by up-and-coming local artists with singer-songwriter Keely Crocker, known for her blend of engaging storytelling and catchy pop tunes. The acoustic performance is backed by guitarist Ryan Truter, with an interactive atmosphere that encourages sing-alongs and spontaneous dancing.
Crocker is a rising star, being nominated for a Naledi Award for her professional theatre debut as Zoe in 2025’s Dear Evan Hansen, and releasing tracks like Drive myself insane and Things could be different, which recently saw her signed to the Kwena Music label. New Exhibitions at Mount Nelson
Mount Nelson debuts three new exhibitions in collaboration with leading artists and institutions, transforming the hotel’s iconic spaces into platforms for contemporary African art.
The Foreign Familiar, co-curated by Thebe Magugu and Julia Buchanan, delves into the history of colonial exchange and how its objects, images, and systems transform over time. Curated by the Norval Foundation’s Carmen Joubert, Interior Weather spans six decades of African art, exploring how changes in colour and material can significantly impact feeling and atmosphere.
Finally, in collaboration with Goodman Gallery, the sculpture trail exhibition transforms Mount Nelson’s famous gardens into a walkthrough experience, where guests discover and reflect on a range of outdoor sculptures at their own pace.

Norval Foundation’s School Holiday Programme
During the school holidays, Norval is giving young artists the opportunity to explore their creativity and imagination at an acclaimed institution. There are daily workshops during this time, ranging from watercolour lessons to oil pastel classes, led by professional artists and teachers. Each workshop is designed to teach kids new techniques, boost their confidence, and allow them to express themselves within a social, supportive environment.
In Friday’s final class of the series, kids are encouraged to experiment with mixed media: cutting, layering, and assembling various papers and textures to create dynamic collage landscapes.

Peter Pan at Canal Walk
Canal Walk brings back its winter theatre experience with Peter Pan. The massive mall’s Centre Court is transformed into a live theatre stage, bringing J.M. Barrie’s classic childhood tale to life. Local actors play the film’s most important roles, including Killian Blerk as Peter Pan, Rachael Saunders as Wendy, and Jeremy Richard as both Mr Darling and Captain Hook.
The iconic story follows Wendy, John, and Michael Darling, whose lives are changed when Peter Pan teaches them to fly, leading them to Neverland. There they meet Tinker Bell, the Lost Boys, Tiger Lily and a band of pirates led by the fearsome Captain Hook, who has not forgiven Peter for an old quarrel involving a crocodile and his missing hand. Adventure, rescue and a fair amount of mischief follow before the children find their way home.

Hilton Schilder Trio Live at Alma Cafe
Best known for his work as a member of The Genuines, Iconoclast, and Sons of Table Mountain, ghoema and Cape Jazz icon Hilton Schilder performs an intimate live show at Alma Cafe this July. Known for his traditional Cape rhythms and proficiency with a wide range of instruments, Schilder has been part of the local music scene since the mid-1980’s, when The Genuines’ anti-apartheid hit Die Struggle was banned in South Africa.
He is joined by bassist Clayton Norman Pretorius and Kurt Bowers on drums, two musicians who have worked with Schilder on numerous projects and live shows over the years. They bring their own improvisational flair to the performance, ensuring no two shows are the same.

Supergirl
After seeing her briefly in 2025’s Superman, the titular heroine is back on the big screen: this time, going on a space odyssey to celebrate her 23rd birthday with Krypto the Dog. The movie features Milly Alcock (as Supergirl herself), Emily Beecham, David Corenswet, and Jason Momoa (importantly, not as Aquaman).
The film promises to be a fun comic book romp through space, returning to familiar territory for producer James Gunn. Supergirl is directed by Craig Gillespie (I, Tonya & Cruella) with a script written by Ana Noguiera (Hamilton).

Zeitz Winter Holiday Programme
Kids can join a series of workshops throughout the school holidays at the Zeitz MOCAA BMW Centre for Art Education. Using a variety of tools, from paint and magazine cuttings to fabric, kids bring their creativity to life in hands-on, guided sessions inspired by the museum’s current exhibitions.
These include SALA, Spring Is Rebellious: The Art & Life of Albie Sachs, Selections from the Collection, We Proceed in the Footsteps of the Sunlight featuring the artist Zohra Opoku, Afflict the Comfortable, Comfort the Afflicted featuring the artist Cauleen Smith, and A Protea Is Not a Flower featuring the artists Lerato Shadi and Robin Rhode.

Spier’s Routes of Sound
Following rave reviews in the previous two years, Brett Bailey and Third World Bunfight return with a bigger and better edition of The Routes of Sound, taking place at Spier Wine Farm from July. This immersive experience invites visitors to wander through the scenic estate’s lush gardens while enjoying a series of live acoustic performances over three weekends.
This winter special highlights talented local musicians from across the country, while guests try Spier’s award-winning Creative Block wines in some of the estate’s most distinctive, cosy spaces. Craig Hinds Live
Craig Hinds, lead vocalist, guitarist, and principal songwriter of South African pop rock band Watershed, performs a solo acoustic set at Die Boer. The programme combines new, unreleased material with selections from Watershed’s catalogue of South African chart hits.
Watershed was founded in Johannesburg in 1998 and released their debut album In the Meantime in 2000. The band is best known for the singles “Indigo Girl” and “Letters“, with “Indigo Girl” achieving international reach after the track was played on German radio during its initial release period. The band subsequently toured Germany and released recordings in both South Africa and Europe. In 2013, Hinds released his first solo album, Ordinary Boy.

The latest film in the iconic kids franchise sees the minions in 1920s Hollywood, as they search for frightening creatures for their monster movie, partner with a green creature, and must save the planet after unleashing monsters.
The all-star voice cast includes Christoph Waltz, Jeff Bridges, Jesse Eisenberg, and Zoey Deutch. The film’s trailer is available to watch here.
In addition to the new movie, Minions fans can enjoy a fun-filled character roadshow at select Ster-Kinekor cinemas between 27 June and 19 July, offering photo opportunities and interactive entertainment so young moviegoers can meet their favourites. The Minions will be at V&A Waterfront on Sunday, 5 July (11am – 4pm) and at Blue Route Mall on Tuesday, 7 July (11am – 4pm).

Legacy In Every Note
Presented by Likwezi Arts, Legacy in Every Note is a five-concert mini tour in Cape Town marking more than two decades of artistic partnership between South African saxophonist McCoy Mrubata and American guitarist Gary Wittner. The tour moves through five intimate venues across the city, from the CBD to Noordhoek, Muizenberg and Langa.
The quartet is completed by bassist Sibusiso Matsimela, an established figure on the South African jazz scene with credits across numerous recordings and live collaborations, and drummer Joshua Klein, an emerging Cape Town-based musician and bandleader. The Sunday performance at Guga S’thebe in Langa, a short distance from Mrubata’s birthplace, features an additional guest appearance by Hlubi Kwebulana.
Each concert takes place in a different Cape Town venue, offering audiences across the city access to the same programme in settings ranging from a CBD bar to a community arts centre.

CapeGate Ice Rink
CapeGate Shopping Centre’s annual winter school holiday ice rink returns, set up in the centre’s covered parking near Entrance 6. The rink is made with real ice and spans 15 x 8 metres, with a neon glow theme. Sessions run for 50 minutes and are open to children aged 3 to 15; parents are welcome to join their children on the ice at the same entry price, or to assist younger skaters from the sideline.
