More about the Orchidelirium Spring Show

The Cape Orchid Society Spring Show is one of the society’s two flagship annual events that celebrate orchids in all their glory. For one special weekend only, society members and private growers display their finest orchids, offering visitors a rare chance to see these extraordinary flowers up close.

A wide variety of orchids and gardening supplies are available for purchase at the show, allowing anyone to start their very own orchid garden. Many expert vendors are on hand to sell their orchids and companion plants, provide trusted advice, and supply everything needed to keep these new treasures thriving at home. The R20 raffle is also not to be missed, giving one lucky winner a collection of high-quality, vibrant orchids.

Beyond the dazzling displays, the show is also an opportunity to learn more about the fascinating world of orchids and the society’s ongoing conservation work. Currently, over 70 of the 241 native orchid species in the Cape Floral Kingdom are vulnerable, putting them at risk of extinction. The Cape Orchid Society does important work in ensuring this does not happen, focusing on propagating rare and endangered orchid species and reintroducing them into habitats where they are under threat or have disappeared.

By partnering with conservation agencies, research institutions, and citizen-science organisations, the Cape Orchid Society strives to secure a future where Cape orchids can continue to thrive in the wild.

Support The Cape Orchid Society
