London and Cape Town team up once again as Savoy & Cape Grace return with their exclusive afternoon tea experience throughout the winter. The experience promises an authentic high tea afternoon straight from the menu of London’s first luxury hotel – here’s everything guests need to know.

About Savoy x Cape Grace Afternoon Tea Experience
This special collaboration between Cape Grace and the Savoy Hotel, both part of the Fairmont family, celebrates the deep tradition of afternoon tea, with a distinct South African twist. The experience is hosted at Heirloom, Cape Grace’s flagship fine-dining establishment, with gorgeous mountain and marina views as guests enjoy a series of curated treats and drinks.
Once again, members of The Savoy’s esteemed team, hailing from both London and South Africa, travel to Cape Town to co-create the experience alongside the Cape Grace staff, bringing their tea-time tradition of over 137 years to the Mother City.
One of the menu’s highlights is a reimagined Peach Melba, in honour of The Savoy’s original head chef, Auguste Escoffier, who is often credited as the father of modern French cuisine – now brought to life with Cape Town ingredients and flair.

Guests can expect filled and flavoured scones from Scoff, The Savoy’s dedicated scone bakery, and a range of seasonal cakes and tarts that make the most of the winter’s produce. On the savoury side, smoked snoek pate, free-range chicken roulade, braised leek tartlet, and a selection of finger sandwiches are available for indulgence.
Not just an excuse to try some good food, The Savoy’s afternoon tea tradition also emphasises friendly service and unique storytelling, with the collaboration utilising a contemporary plating style that brings out the best in what the Cape has to offer. The Savoy Hotel, Britain’s first luxury hotel, is a long-standing pioneer in European hospitality, introducing innovations such as electric lifts and en-suite bathrooms to the United Kingdom. Its iconic Afternoon Tea experience has been enjoyed by celebrities including Marilyn Monroe and The Beatles, and continues to be an attraction thanks to its newly revamped Gallery venue.
