This year, celebrate International Gin Day at TANG V&A Waterfront with food, drink and entertainment inspired by Japanese culture. The fine dining restaurant in Cape Town is turning up the notches with a decadent Kaiseki tasting menu, sensational gin cocktails courtesy of Bombay Sapphire, and a contemporary art session with illustrator Yay Abe.
Start with a Bombay Sapphire G&T on arrival followed by a six-course Kaiseki lunch. For a unique twist to the event, graphic art studio Yay Abe will demonstrate how to create live artistic strokes and his Doodle Masterclass, as well as vibrant acrobatics.
Lucky diners also stand a chance to walk away with a bottle of limited edition Bombay Sapphire in Yay Abe gift box, or a T-shirt exclusively designed by Yay Abe.
A special Kaiseki menu with multiple courses and smashing G&Ts
Kaiseki is regarded as the pinnacle of Japanese cuisine. This fine dining experience is an elaborate, multi-course tasting feast that is built around seasonal ingredients, and crafted with an intricate edge. The chef’s menu for World Gin Day stays true to the original concept of Kaiseki by featuring Shiso oyster, grilled seabass, a special selection, and other stunning courses packed with flavour.
A doodle masterclass hosted by illustrator, Russell Abrahams
Cape Town-based illustrator Russell Abrahams is hosting an informal art session sharing the quirky and colourful Vector-style art that made him famous. Guests receive a small 10 x 10 canvas and black marker while learning the craft of doodling as they sip on a signature gin and tonic from Bombay Sapphire.
Abrahams runs his own design studio, Yay Abe, which collaborated with Bombay Sapphire late last year for limited edition gift tins.
To set the mood, a female acrobat performs a stunning dance showcase, showing beauty in flexibility through physical strength, balance, and agility.
