Starting in July, Cape Grace hosts a monthly, curated winemaker’s dinner at Heirloom, the hotel’s fine-dining establishment, with Terroir & Table unfolding throughout winter and spring. Each evening takes place on a Saturday towards the end of the month, highlighting one wine estate from throughout the Cape’s thriving, ever-innovating winemaking culture.
With a mix of up-and-coming boutique wine talent and established estates in historic locations, Terroir & Table brings together the versatile menus of Heirloom with the award-winning wines of the Mother City for an exclusive experience ideal for foodies and vino enthusiasts.

About the event
Terroir & Table evenings begin with a welcome toast in the Bascule cellar, before moving on to four courses paired with four wines for a full dinner service. Executive Chef Wesli Jacobs composes an exclusive menu, with each flavour made to complement the wines, with the winemaker themselves hosting the evening: pouring glasses, answering questions, and telling the unique story behind each blend.
For those who love finding the best varietals for any dining occasion, Terroir & Table is a great opportunity to ask some of the city’s most knowledgeable professionals about winemaking, tasting, and pairing. Guests can purchase bottles of their favourite samples and may even receive personal invitations to the wine farms themselves.
The first night in the series featured Sam Lambson of Minimalist Wines, a young entrepreneur who started Minimalist at 21, learning from some of the region’s most admired winemakers. Now, the boutique cellar has a portfolio of site-driven, world-class Syrahs, harvested from Cape Agulhas, Elgin, and Stellenbosch. A Minimalist tasting flight is available at Cape Grace’s Library Lounge until 8 August.

Upcoming events
The Women’s Month edition (29 August) features Trizanne Signature Wines, with a wine-focused celebration of women in wine and the next generation of winemaking in the Cape. The evening is co-hosted by Tristan Maske, the vision behind The Wine Intern and Lekker Doos, a monthly wine delivery service.
September is a special occasion, with VUUR’s Chef Shaun joining Chef Wesli for a four-hands lunch and dinner experience, with each meal spanning five courses over Heritage Day weekend (25 & 26 September). VUUR is one of the most sought-after fine-dining establishments in Stellenbosch, and was recently honoured in the list of the 101 Best Steak Restaurants In The World.
Finally, the Terroir & Table experience concludes (24 October) with De Grendel, the distinguished wine estate with an award-winning portfolio, hosted by cellar master Charles Hopkins, who has been with the farm since its earliest days of winemaking back in 2005.

Heirloom Restaurant
Heirloom Restaurant is the signature dining option, open to guests and day visitors. The eatery offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with an elegant design overlooking the marina, so guests can enjoy their food amid an atmospheric view.
The dining room’s central focus is a glass wall where scenes of the quiet bay at V&A Waterfront take centre stage, while Table Mountain looms on the horizon. The space’s design focuses on greenery, artisanal textiles, and other refined elements that reference Cape botanicals.
