Running fever has hit an all high, and last week, Nike took over Cape Town with a roster of exciting social runs and visiting running clubs. Despite the disappointment of one of the city’s biggest marathons being cancelled, Nike brought the running community together through a dynamic series of experiences.

Nike is proud to play its part by creating spaces where runners can connect, learn, and find inspiration, whether they’re experienced marathoners or just starting their journey. Running demands immense grit and endurance, and Nike is honoured to stand alongside the community in support of every runner taking on this challenge.
From shake-out runs to insightful conversations, Nike’s presence underscored its commitment to uplifting South Africa’s running community and celebrating the shared passion that drives it forward.

The Ultimate Running Destination at 70 Bree Street
Over the course of five days, Nike transformed 70 Bree Street into a hub of innovation where sports, lifestyle and good vibes merged into the ultimate hangout spot for the running community.
The venue was curated with Nike apparel and their latest innovations – the Pegasus Premium, Vomero Plus, and Structure 2. Every corner of 70 Bree Street featured activations designed for runners. On the ground level, visitors could shop a premium range of Nike apparel and footwear and get more info on the best running shoes. The Nike Cafe supplied coffee, sports drinks and daily doses of matcha.
The top level had everything needed to level up your run. Guests could warm up on the treadmill with experts offering advice. It also featured state-of-the-art decompression boots, a nail bar and a station dedicated to cleaning Nike footwear cleaned by professionals.

Daily Social Runs Through the Heart of the City
A highlight of Nike’s 70 Bree Street campaign was daily 5km social runs through the City. These runs were free to join and committed to connecting runners.
The featured runners from all over Cape Town, as well as running clubs from the city and Joburg. Running crews included Not Late Running Club, Home Runn, Benchwarmers, The Pack and Run Tell That.
Even local celebs made appearances at the social runs, including music icons Major League DJs and South African running hero Caster Semenya.

Connecting Runners and Bringing the Vibe
Nike’s 70 Bree Street running destination was the perfect place for runners to connect. Each day featured group warm up and stretching sessions, , and panel discussions featuring leading voices in the running community that bring together athletes and fitness enthusiasts.
Panel discussions included lite athlete and coach panels powered by the Nedbank Run Club, hosted by MC Thato Moeng, and talks with Nedbank Run Club Coach Nick Bester.
Throughout the five days, 70 Bree Street was pumping with music by live DJs.
