Some of the region’s finest wineries will be in attendance to showcase their best Chardonnay and Pinot Noir offerings. “There are now so many fine wines coming from Elgin that it’s hard to remember that until recently the area was famous only for its apples and pears,” writes local wine expert Michael Fridjon in his Business Live column. “At a recent presentation hosted by the Elgin producers I was struck by how almost everyone working with chardonnay was achieving freshness and finesse.”

Ticketholders can look forward to meeting Elgin’s top winemakers and sommeliers, tasting a variety of well-respected offerings and finding out what makes their wines so exceptional.

Featured vineyards include Almenkerk, Sutherland Vineyards, Neil Ellis Wines, Boschendal, Oak Valley Estate, Lothian Vineyards, Iona Wines, Highlands Road Wine Estate, Paul Cluver Family Wines, Kershaw Wines, Shannon Vineyards, and Elgin Vintners Wines.

The tastings are complemented with carefully crafted canapés to pair and enhance your wine experience perfectly. Advance booking is absolutely essential as space is limited.

More about Wines of Elgin

Wines of Elgin come from the Kogelberg Biosphere (a UNESCO World Heritage site), which encompasses the Elgin valley, enclosed by mountains and perched 250 – 500 meters above sea level. The Elgin winemaking region is also one of the Cape’s newer areas and was formally declared a wine route in 1990. The wines of Elgin are blessed by high altitudes, cold winters with ample rainfall, and refreshing southeasterly sea breezes. Combined with the black South Easter wind and unique cloud cover days just before and during the harvest, the conditions create a unique microclimate perfect for viticulture and winemaking.

Signature varietals in the region include Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Sauvignon Blanc. Wine of Elgin also showcases its versatility with offerings such as Riesling, Merlot, Syrah, and other varieties across 721 hectares of vineyards.
