On Saturday, 12 October, the Two Oceans Aquarium invites you to Waddle for the Penguins from Muizenberg to Simon’s Town, to raise awareness for the African penguin, one of our planet’s most cherished yet endangered species.

Why This Waddle Matters
These charming birds are facing an alarming crisis, with recent statistics showing a staggering 16% drop in nesting populations from 2022 to 2023, a trend that continues into 2024.
It is essential to keep the African penguin in the public eye. Raising awareness through media and advocating for government policies that impact their survival is crucial. By participating in the Waddle, individuals can contribute to this vital cause and help shed light on the challenges these birds face in their natural habitat.

What to Expect at the Waddle
The Two Oceans Aquarium is calling on all volunteers, friends, family, and partners to join the waddle in this important event.
The Waddle will commence in Muizenberg, where supporters will gather to connect with fellow participants and share the passion for penguin conservation. The route to Simon’s Town promises a picturesque journey along the coastline, allowing us to appreciate the natural beauty that these remarkable birds call home.

What to bring along
Participants are encouraged to wear weather-appropriate clothing, comfortable footwear, and penguin-themed attire to show solidarity for our feathered friends. Don’t forget to bring along water in reusable bottles.
