Ahead of his much-awaited live recording of Isigqi in Europe, acclaimed South African pianist and composer Sibusiso Mash Mashiloane is hosting an exclusive prelude performance on 25 October in Cape Town. The event is set to immerse audiences in the rhythmic soul of the album and offers an intimate preview of the album before it is recorded live at the iconic Bird’s Eye in Basel, Switzerland in December 2024.

More about Isigqi by Sibusiso Mash Mashiloane
The concerts leading up to the album recording in Switzerland will explore the foundational elements of Isigqi, an album that pays tribute to the people, landscapes, and memories that have shaped Mashiloane’s identity and music.
“I see Isigqi as a tribute to the individuals and communities whose lived experiences have profoundly influenced my music. It’s not just about sound—it’s about the heart, spirit, and beat of the people,” says Mashiloane.
Music lovers can look forward to a deep exploration of complex rhythms, melodic narratives, and Mashiloane’s emotive connection to the concept of home. The concept of home is central to his work as both a performer and academic. Accompanied by a stellar lineup of local jazz talents, these concerts promise to be thought-provoking and soul-stirring.
