Gladiator Fighting at Rush Trampoline Park

Rush: More Than Just Jumping at This Indoor Trampoline Park in Cape Town

Rush Extreme Sports involves more than just jumping. Rush is an innovative activity and entertainment centre for all ages, featuring adrenaline-pumping trampolines, obstacle courses, climbing walls and much more.

With branches in Claremont in Cape Town and Greenstone in Johannesburg, the indoor trampoline park has been making a name for itself with its wide variety of family-friendly activities, excellent safety, and facilities that exceed expectations. Marie-Claire de Villiers visited the Claremont branch to find out more.

A warm entrance, safety protocols and seating options

On arrival, each person needs to purchase a pair of socks (R40) with a grip on the sole to wear throughout the venue, which can be reused for every visit to Rush. These socks provide stability (by helping you cling onto surfaces) and keep germs and smells in check. This was the first win; a clean and comfortable environment is always at the top of the list for a great day out (Note: socks cost R40 per pair and are required to jump and climb).

Smaller children were gently guided through safety protocols before entering the venue. Someone actively watched and guided everyone in every section, providing that all-important safety.

Plenty of seating was available throughout the space, including sports bar-type couches with TVs, benches, and a more private room. Rush also offers kids’ parties and group events, and the facilities are generously suited to that.

Awesome adrenaline-fuelled activities for all

The number of sections and variety of activities on offer is quite impressive.

  • Ninja Warrior Obstacle Course: Test your balance, strength and endurance as you navigate hoops, monkey bars, and platforms and try not to fall into the foam pit below.
  • Sparring beams: Battle each other over safe airbags using padded batons.
  • Climbing walls: Choose your level (from ultimate beginner to advanced) and race the person on the other side of the wall if you want to on the main wall, which is see-through. Automatic belays, certified instructors, and safety personnel on hand keep climbers feeling ultra-safe and taken care of.
  • Trampoline area: Bounce off the week’s stress or let the kids release that pent-up energy in any of the four trampoline sections. The first section has extra bouncy trampolines and an area on the wall for you to jump up to and off of in a parkour style. Two people are never allowed on the same trampoline at once, and the area around all the trampolines has soft mats to break any falls. The larger trampoline area has trampolines of all different sizes and levels of bounce. There are even some on the wall. Choose your favourite one, try some tricks or see how far you can jump.
  • High dive area: Dive into a pit of pillows and “swim” your way out or even race in the large foam “pool”.
  • Trampoline dodgeball: Pit the kids against each other in this unique take on dodgeball (definitely more difficult!). A very involved referee keeps a level of order.
  • Toddler time: yes, there’s even something for the little ones aged 4 and under (to be accompanied by an adult) – this one’s more about social interaction than sports. Learn more here

Extras that we loved

A DJ booth overlooks the main trampoline area, and when no one is playing there, vibey, dancy music is played through the speakers and keeps the energy up. The coffee and halaal-certified cafe area is always an added bonus, and the one at Rush Extreme is well-run. It stocks coffee, slushies, and an excellent assortment of sweets and snacks.

Note: no drinks or snacks from outside Rush are allowed in the centre.
