The Kirstenbosch Summer Concert Series is back! The lineup for this iconic summer must-do has just been announced, and highlights include stalwarts such as Goldfish, Freshlyground, Mango Groove, Mi Casa and the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra, as well as established stars such as Mafikizolo, Jeremy Loops and Matthew Mole and other popular and emerging artists.
Since the 1990s, Kirstenbosch concerts have become a cherished tradition, combining world-class music with the beauty of nature. It’s the perfect way to experience Cape Town’s vibrant summer atmosphere.
‘Unity’ with Emo and Loukmaan Adams
The opening act for this season is hosted by popular local singers and entertainers, Emo and Loukmaan Adams. Emo gained fame with his energetic pop hits, while Loukmaan is celebrated for his soulful voice and involvement in both musical theatre and South African pop culture. Billed as a ‘Unity concert’, the lineup features popular and emerging local artists.

Goldfish
Despite having been based in California for the last few years, Cape Town will always be home to this incredibly talented pair. Dominic Peters and David Poole create dance music containing elements of house, pop, jazz and African music, carving a distinctive sound that blends infectious rhythms with live instruments, particularly saxophones and bass guitar. Although they’ve played in clubs and at festivals all over the world, they’ve stated that Kirstenbosch will always be one of their favourite venues.

Will Linley and Lloyiso
Just 23 years old, Will Linley gained attention with his breakout single ‘Miss Call’ in 2021 and has already made a name for himself on the Indie / Alternative music scene. Will is joined by vocalist and pianist Lloyiso, who at 25 is carving out an international career having shot to fame as a contestant on the 11th season of Idols SA.

Freshlyground and Congo Cowboys
Known for their distinctive fusion of African and contemporary styles, Freshlyground is embarking on an exciting new chapter with new lead vocalist Mbali Makhoba. Makhoba brings her powerful, soulful voice and dynamic stage presence to the group, marking a significant evolution in the band’s celebrated journey.
Congo Cowboys – which includes three members of Freshlyground – blends Bluegrass and Country with the rich rhythms of traditional African music, to give foot-stomping results.

Mango Groove
Multiple-award-winning band Mango Groove is a staple of the Kirstenbosch Concert Series. Internationally, Mango Groove’s unique and magical blend of South African Marabi, Kwela and pop influences, together with the voice and presence of Claire Johnston and the evocative sound of the penny-whistle, have captivated audiences around the world.

Bok von Blerk and Elandre
Bok van Blerk is a popular South African singer-songwriter, known for his contributions to Afrikaans music. He gained fame with hits like ‘De la Rey’ and ‘Kaptein’. His style blends folk, country, and rock influences, and he often incorporates themes of patriotism, history, and identity into his songs.
Described as singing “Afrikaans music dressed in a range of different designs”, Elandre is a graduate of the Waterfront Theatre School. He hit the big time after his cover of Bruce Springsteen’s ‘Tougher Than the Rest’ went viral overnight.

Mafikizolo and Ross Learmonth
The renowned South African music duo Mafikizolo (Theo Kgosinkwe and Nhlanhla Nciza) achieved international success with hits ‘Khona’ and ‘Love Portion’. Known for a fusion of Afro-pop, kwaito, and house music, their energetic sound and vibrant performances have made them music icons.
Ross Learmonth, a talented South African singer-songwriter, gained recognition as the lead vocalist of popular rock band Prime Circle. As a solo artist, he explores a more intimate sound, blending rock and acoustic influences, with heartfelt lyrics and emotional depth.

Matthew Mole

The Golden Oldies

Stef Bos
Stef Bos is a renowned South African pianist, vocalist, and songwriter, celebrated for his distinctive voice and poetic lyricism. Watershed
Twice awarded ‘South Africa’s Hottest Band’ by People magazine, alternative rock band Watershed is another regular in the lineup in the Kirstenbosch Concert Series. Fronted by the talented Craig Hinds, the band formed in the late 1990s, and had big hits with ‘Indigo Girl’, ‘Fine Way’ and ‘Letters’. Watershed’s music blends folk, rock, and acoustic elements, resonating with fans for its emotional depth and authenticity. Ami Faku and Simmy
