Compete for High Scores in Africa’s First-Ever Mission Room with HintHunt

Known for bringing the viral escape room concept to South Africa, HintHunt’s latest game invites teams to step into a retro, arcade-like world and compete for the top of the leaderboards.

Here’s everything casual puzzle-solvers and competitive gamers need to know about this brand-new interactive experience.

How to play Bomb Time, HintHunt’s latest game

Each game is split into four fast-paced stages that require different skills and knowledge to beat and score high, challenging each team at different levels while keeping every round fresh and engaging. Echo challenges a group’s auditory memory; Lasers is a Mission Impossible-like test of agility and flexibility; Labyrinth focuses on puzzle-solving and quick reflexes; and Pixel requires teams to move quickly on their feet. The final room is another dynamic cerebral challenge, with players attempting to defuse a bomb before the clock runs out.

Everything from the Mission Rooms to the music and puzzles is reminiscent of old-school arcade games like Pac-Man, immersing players in the story’s retro world and nostalgic atmosphere. While HintHunt’s escape rooms and mental puzzles generally appeal more to older clients, Bomb Time challenges younger audiences with more physical obstacles, making it especially entertaining for teenagers and young adults looking for a fresh avenue of entertainment.

Still, the experience remains open to all ages, families, friends, and corporate groups looking to compete and prove which side of the office is truly the best.

Bomb Time contains flashing lights and strobe effects, which may not be suitable for guests with photosensitive epilepsy. Each round takes about 60 minutes, making it a quick day activity that players can repeat for higher scores and bigger bragging rights.

More about HintHunt

Opened in 2012, HintHunt is considered a pioneer and is largely responsible for kicking off the Escape Room craze, which has swept the world over the last decade. The company has since expanded to offer different games, including amazing races, mobile escape rooms, online escape games, and the first-ever Mission Room.

What sets HintHunt apart is that everything is locally produced, tested, and created, adding a unique South African twist to each game. Plans are in place to make Bomb Time available in a range of local languages, broadening accessibility for users in Cape Town.

Bomb Time is the result of years of exploring games worldwide, ideating, testing, data analysis, development, and building to bring the first-ever experience of its kind to the African continent. HintHunt is always bringing in new games and activities, with an all-new experience currently in development.
