The Chinese New Year Market is back this year for another stunning showcase of Chinese culture on 21 February 2026, right in time to celebrate the Year of the Horse. This market event at Century City has evolved as one of the most important cultural events in Cape Town.
Attendees can look forward to a vibrant day filled with delicious Chinese food, Chinese arts and crafts, traditional Chinese tea, Chinese acupuncture, and an exciting line-up of performances and entertainment. This year’s highlights include Dragon & Lion Dance, Taichi, and even Zumba.

What’s on at the Chinese New Year Market this year
The lineup for this year’s Chinese New Year Market promises a relaxed day out for all and a great opportunity to learn more about the wonder of Chinese culture and chat with vendors about their produce and offerings. Taste your way through a range of traditional dishes and street food such as stir-fries, noodles, bubble tea, ice cream and other snacks and there is a drink stall serving beverages. Don’t miss the large collection of Chinese tea for both tasting and take-home.
For wellness, explore ancient Chinese medicine while practitioners offer traditional treatments such as acupuncture which holds a great number of health benefits. An exhibition and sale of Chinese art and handcrafts is also on show.
Let the kids run free with fun and exciting activities such as jumping castles, a petting zoo and a dog show.
9am – 4pm: Jumping Castles available for the whole day.
11am – 4pm: Face Painting by Magical Parties.
11am – 2pm: Petting Zoo by Furry Friends Mobile Petting Zoo.
10am – 10.30am: Lion’ Dance & Dragon Dance by SboNdaba.
10.30am – 11.30am: Zumba with Wendy, Licensed Zumba Instructor.
11.30am – 12pm: Lion’ Dance & Dragon Dance by SboNdaba.
12.30pm – 2.30pm: Live music by Culbert Sound & Music.
2pm – 3pm: Dog Show by The Incredible Dog Show.
