Puss In Boots
Written and directed by Steven Stead, this family pantomime is presented by KickstArt Theatre, a Durban-based non-profit company with over 170 local and national awards and a two-decade track record of large-scale productions at major South African venues. The production follows last year’s warmly received Jack and the Beanstalk at the same venue, continuing KickstArt’s annual tradition of holiday-season pantomimes.
Set on a Caribbean island, the story centres on a quick-witted cat armed with a clever plan and a pair of boots, navigating magical twists and comic misadventure to alter his owner’s fortunes. The cast includes Rory Booth in the title role, Belinda Henwood as good fairy Calypso Honeybunch, Bryan Hiles as the villainous Grimsby Withergood, and Kyran Brady Taylor as Tom Marzipan.

A Little Night Music
New directions follow in winter with Stephen Sondheim’s A Little Night Music at Theatre on the Bay. Set in Sweden in 1900 and inspired by Ingmar Bergman’s film Smiles of a Summer Night, the musical uses the waltz as its heartbeat as romance unravels over a single midsummer weekend. With sophistication, wit, and emotional finesse, and featuring the beloved song Send in the Clowns, the production offers a sparkling contrast to the season’s operatic intensity.
Cost: R206 – R375. Bookings can be made on Webtickets.
When: 30 June – 12 July 2026 | Shows at 2pm & 7.30pm

Call Me When You Get This
Playing for Cape Town audiences for the final time before debuting at the Edinburgh Fringe, Call Me When You Get This explores the complications of a love story between two people where every moment counts. Performed by writer-director Alice Viskat and actor Maya Boraine, every scene is haunted by a ticking clock that counts down as each visit starts – asking the impossibly simple question: “How do you build a future with someone you always leave behind?”
Audiences can expect a tender string of memories told outside of a traditional chronological structure, exploring what to do with love when the person it’s meant for isn’t there to receive it anymore.
Cost: R120 per person (early bird). Book now on Quicket.

The production is a one-woman performance that tackles gender-based violence and the challenges survivors face as they navigate the justice system. Danica De La Rey Jones, known for Hunting Jessica Brok, Unseen and For Colored Girls, performs the role of Tessa, a brilliant young barrister who climbs her way up from working-class origins to the top of her profession. Tessa believes in the legal system until a brutal attack turns her world upside down, forcing her to navigate the same system she once championed.
