Whether you’re a gin enthusiast or a fan of the Guinness World Records™ (GWR), mark the Cape Cheers Gin Festival in Cape Town in your calendar. Presented by award-winning South African craft gin brand, TWO GINGERS, Cape Cheers is a festival with a difference – an attempt to achieve the world record for ‘Most People Drinking Gin in One Place’.
Cape Cheers Gin Festival: A festival with a difference
Cape Cheers will be held at Gember Distillery in Muizenberg, the brand home of Two Gingers Gin. The ticket price of R280 includes 4 mini bottles of Two Gingers Gin to participate in the official, audited GWR tasting overseen by an international Guinness World Record judge and certified taster, Cathy Marston.
Live music to toast the celebration
The Cape Cheers Gin Festival is as much a celebration as it is a world record-breaking event. Music lovers get the chance to groove to feel-good rock band Sunset Sweatshop, along with great local talent, the likes of Natalie Rae, Ambience and Sons of Selassie, while resident DJ and MC, DJ Andre will keep the party going into the evening.
Food trucks for the win
Make a day of it by pairing your gin with awesome street food from choice of food trucks on site. Several top-notch bars will also be ready to serve your favourite tipple. And of course, a selection of Two Gingers G&Ts will be on tap.
More about Two Gingers and the duo lighting up Cape Town’s gin scene
Proudly Capetonian founders of Two Gingers, Simon Cranswick and Wynand de Vries, believe that history is best made when shared with kindred spirits. They invite gin enthusiasts, party people and music lovers to join them at the Cape Cheers Gin Festival for a day of fun, food and entertainment while breaking the record. This accolade will be the proverbial ‘juniper berry on top’ and will hold pride of place amidst the many gold awards these fledgling crafters of gin have already racked up in under two years.
Their brand philosophy is to produce gins in the traditional, artisanal way, as well as to provide gins for purists; gins which need just a touch of plain Indian tonic water. Their tagline is ‘Still Talking’; both letting the gin Still do the Talking, but also keeping the conversation flowing while enjoying their delicious craft gins.
