Rebolledo headlines Sheer Disko

After uniting diverse underground nightlife collectives and LGBTQ+ culture for the first time earlier this year, Sheer City is back with another night of floor-rumbling, foot-thumping electronic music.

Noted by Forbes as one of the most important creatives in Mexico, Rebolledo is a DJ and electronic music producer known for his experimental brand of disco, techno, and tribal house. Starting in his home country, he has since become an international star, most famously performing with the Mayan Warrior collective at Burning Man and as one half of Pachanga Boys alongside Superpitcher.

His headlining of Sheer City’s first winter warmer event marks his first-ever set of performances in Africa. The night features two dance floors, limited VIP tables, and three bars to ensure no one is stuck waiting for drinks. Downstairs is a night of veteran DJs with Rebolledo filling in the coveted midnight slot, while upstairs sees some Cape Town favourites, including Fogshow, Housewife, and Kong, keeping up the energy.

Listeners can expect a night of dreamy melodies and soulful singing from some of the most exciting young artists in recent years, bringing an international flair to Cape Town’s thriving indie scene.

Good Neighbours, a duo made up of Oli Fox and Scott Verrill, broke through onto the scene with their debut hit Home: a track layered with 2000s indie rock nostalgia, dreamy & noisy production, and an emotional chorus that has since earned over 500 million Spotify streams and certified Platinum.

The other headliner is New Zealand’s Teeks, whose sound is influenced by the R&B and soul greats that defined the 2000s and 2010s. With a velvety singing voice, classical instrumentation, and sentimental songwriting, Teeks feels like a blast from the past, bringing soulful sounds into the modern day, including the Double Platinum-certified South African favourite First Time.

The show is presented by Breakout Events, well known for their Sunset Music Series, ParkLive Festival, and recently bringing Karyn White to Kirstenbosch. The opening act is set to be a special local artist, with exact details to be announced soon.
