Immersive Marine Dining at Amura by Ángel León
A new culinary chapter unfolds at Mount Nelson with the official opening of Amura by Ángel León. For the first time outside of his home country, Spain, Michelin-starred chef Ángel León brings his pioneering culinary philosophy across hemispheres to Cape Town, as Culinary Director of the new restaurant.
Led by Head Chef Guillermo Salazar, Amura blends the flavours of Andalusia with the spirit of the Cape, creating a menu that’s all about simplicity, precision and a strong sense of place. Inspired by the ocean, the food focuses on clean, elemental flavours that reflect the coastline and Salazar’s international roots.
The drinks offering follows the same coastal thread, featuring creative collaborations with local producers, bespoke spirits and ocean-aged wines that complement the menu perfectly. Set within a beautifully designed space by Tristan du Plessis – think ocean-liner glamour with a modern edge – Amura delivers a refined, sea-inspired dining experience that feels both thoughtful and cinematic.
For couples seeking a refined and immersive culinary experience this Valentine’s Day, Amura offers an intimate six-course tasting menu, thoughtfully paired with exceptional wines. The revised menu proposal focuses on a sharing-focused, playful, and subtly romantic journey, true to Amura’s marine identity.
