Rwandan-born chef Jane Nshuti is hosting an intimate 8-course tasting journey that features carefully crafted vegan dishes as part of as part of Food Indaba. The dining experience runs on Friday, 2 August and highlights creative and nourishing plant-based cuisine from Rwanda, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi, Mozambique and South Africa.
Dialogues Through Food: What to expect
Each of these dishes on Chef Jane Nshuti’s 8-course set menu is a connection to home, a creation of home on a journey without a home as a refugee. Jane narrates her story of making a home with each meal in each country, starting with Rwanda where she’s from.
Guests can look forward to highlights such as Coco yam gnocchi with moringa pesto from Rwanda, fragrant Tanzanian Coconut beans purée with pilau ball, a lentil loaf on corn cup via the DRC, and closer to home….malva pudding made with sorghum and served with vegan ice cream.
