Cape Town Furniture Week Hosts An Exciting Programme Across the Mother City

Since the first edition in 2023, Cape Town Furniture Week has established itself as a standout event on South Africa’s design calendar. With a particular focus on contemporary furniture, lighting and homeware, Cape Town Furniture Week unfolds across a network of walkable districts, transforming the city into an open, decentralised design destination from 18 to 21 February 2026. Here’s everything you need to know.

Everything Happening at Cape Town Furniture Week

Taking place in showrooms, studios, and pop-up spaces, Cape Town Furniture Week features a programme of exhibitions, installations, talks and tours that invite both professionals and the public to discover and engage with contemporary South African design.

The Cape Town Furniture Week programme takes on an annual theme for the first time. The 2026 theme, Contemporary Craft, is an invitation to engage with design as craftsmanship, to explore the intersection between old techniques and new technologies, to spotlight the process behind how products come to life, and ultimately to give value to things that take time.

Rather than concentrating activity within a single venue, Cape Town Furniture Week invites attendees to explore exhibitions and events across multiple locations in a number of districts. The format offers an experience shaped as much by place as by programme, with the walkable streets of Cape Town’s historic Inner City playing a starring role.

The 2026 edition of Cape Town Furniture Week will feature close to 80 South African brands and designers, most of them from Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban. Exhibitors include emerging brands like Ananta Design Studio, Daily, and MŪVEK, established brands like HALDANE, Lemon, and Wiid Design, and first-time participants like Andrew Dominic Furniture, Casamento, and Arkivio. A number of brands and retail stores will also be launching or previewing new showrooms at Cape Town Furniture Week, including Lemon, CRÉMA, Hoop and Acre Studio.

Complementing the participation of South African brands and designers is a curated Italian Design programme, in partnership with the Consulate of Italy in Cape Town. This programme will feature the Cape Town showrooms of Officine Gullo, Poliform, and Valcucine, including a conversation with Italian designer Francesca Lanzavecchia, who will be attending Cape Town Furniture Week in her capacity as Italian Design Ambassador to South Africa for 2026.

A highlight on the programme is the CTFW x VISI Design Prize exhibition, which will be on display at the Festival Hub (81 St George’s Mall). Established in 2025 in partnership with VISI Magazine, the Official Media Partner of Cape Town Furniture Week, the Design Prize is a platform for recognising new design objects that contribute to the advancement of South African design.
