Alice In Wonderland is a Playful Reimagining of a Classic Story
Step into a world of wonder and whimsy with this imaginative performance by the Cape Town City Ballet, inspired by Lewis Carroll’s timeless tales Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass. Follow Alice as she tumbles down the rabbit hole and finds herself in a fantastical realm where logic bends, time twists, and every encounter brings a new surprise. From the mischievous Cheshire Cat to the flamboyant Queen of Hearts, each character is brought to life through expressive movement, dazzling costumes, and evocative stage design.
This vibrant production reimagines Carroll’s surreal universe through a fusion of classical ballet and inventive storytelling. Expect breathtaking choreography, clever visual effects, and an enchanting musical score that captures both the playfulness and poetry of Alice’s journey. All performances will be danced to recorded music.
Whether it’s your child’s first ballet or a seasoned dance lover’s delight, this production promises a spellbinding experience for all ages, rich in magic, mischief, and pure theatrical joy.

The Cast of Alice of Wonderland
Joining the Cape Town City Ballet cast will be professional actor Gregan Aherin, and Amahle Cindy Nyeka from The Rainbow Academy performing arts and business school who will portray a number of different characters in the ballet.
Four up-and-coming young dancers from various ballet schools in Cape Town – Zara Yazbek, Kai Damon, Cameron Payne and Sinethemba Wisani – will alternate as the young Alice. This production will give 90 children the chance to take to the stage (30 per show), as playing cards, flowers and fish.
