Experience Cape Grace Hotel’s Afternoon Tea: A Cape Town Classic Reimagined

Cape Grace, A Fairmont Managed Hotel, is home to an expertly crafted Afternoon Tea experience. Cape Grace brings this refined tradition to new heights, offering an escape filled with elegance, indulgence, and the enchanting beauty of the V&A Waterfront’s harbour setting. Afternoon Tea invites locals and visitors alike to unwind in timeless luxury and savour a distinctly Cape Town experience.

Refined classic and modern confections

At the heart of this afternoon tea in Cape Town is a thoughtfully curated menu by Executive Pastry Chef, Lorraine Meaney, who has brought her passion for detail and local flavour to each creation. Guests can decide between the regular menu and a newly crafted vegetarian offering, substituting coronation chicken for coronation cauliflower, and a caponata vegetable sandwich.

On the other menu, the savoury highlights include dainty tea sandwiches with coronation chicken, grass-fed beef on spinach bread, or a free-range egg mayonnaise.

Further menu offerings include Franschhoek smoked trout on brioche, wild mushroom tartlets, and pulled springbok tacos, as well as seasonal desserts that reflect the vibrant local flavours of the Cape. To complete this delectable selection, Cape Grace’s signature sweet and savoury scones are served fresh, with clotted cream and preserves, creating a perfect harmony of taste and tradition.

About the gourmet tea experience

Tea lovers will revel in the carefully selected range of teas, including Nigiro’s fine loose-leaf varieties and Cape Grace’s own exclusive blend.

For those wishing to elevate their afternoon, a glass of Rickety Bridge Blanc de Blanc Cap Classique offers a refreshing addition, embodying a sophisticated twist on the traditional tea experience. Each sip tells a story, connecting guests to the region’s rich history and hospitality.

Bookings include a complimentary glass of Cap de Classique.

A charming setting with views over the marina

The Afternoon Tea is served in Cape Grace’s newly refurbished restaurant, where floor-to-ceiling windows invite sunlight to dance across tables set against the breathtaking views of the yacht marina and Table Mountain.

The elegant yet inviting ambience sets the stage for both leisurely relaxation and intimate celebrations, making it an ideal choice for anniversaries, birthdays, or simply a refined escape from the day-to-day.

Kiddies Afternoon Tea

The Cape Grace Afternoon Tea experience is now open to even the youngest guests. Kids get a simplified menu with bites such as sweet pastries, savoury sandwiches, and buttermilk scones. The drinks menu is just as great for little ones, featuring an iced tea welcome drink, a variety of teas, hot chocolates, and milkshakes. To keep them entertained, the menu is illustrated in the style of a children’s book, and each young guest gets their own set of colouring pens to express their creativity.
