Situated at the water’s edge of the V&A Waterfront yacht marina, the newly revamped Bascule Bar and Lounge is once again set to become the ultimate spot for after-work drinks, date nights, and keen whiskey lovers. This stalwart is perfectly positioned to show off iconic mountain views while capturing the quiet marina charm of the Waterfront marina.

A haven for whisky and scotch aficionados + tasting sessions

Bascule Bar’s signature as one of the most respected whisky bars in Cape Town remains firmly in place. Here you can try an extensive collection of rare whisky, scotch, bourbon and other spirits. The bar also boasts a curated wine cellar that includes some of the best local and international wine labels.

New to whisky and keen to broaden your knowledge? The bar hosts whisky tasting experiences from Wednesday to Sunday. Dive into the history of whiskey while learning about the intricate craft of distilling, maturing, and blending. Guests can choose between expertly guided tutored tastings or a refined self-guided exploration. The experience runs from 12pm to 4:30pm.

One of the city’s most cherished intimate haunts for meeting up with friends or business associates, this has undergone a sophisticated transformation on every level with fresh, inspired elements now enhancing Bascule’s storied charm.

For food and drink, you can now try a small plate menu and cocktails inspired by veld, mountain and sea such as the Linefish Ceviche served with pomelo, pickled daikon and ponzu, and the Tide is High, shaken up with Jorgensen’s Vodka, lychee, salted lime sorbet, Graham Beck Brut and finished off with gold.
