Heirloom Futures is a landmark contemporary fashion exhibition and benefit auction celebrating African design, craftsmanship, and cultural storytelling. Running from 13 – 23 April 2026, and presented by Norval Foundation in partnership with Buchanan & Co., the exhibition positions fashion as both cultural artefact and collectible art form. Here’s everything you need to know.

All About the Heirloom Futures Exhibition & Auction
The Heirloom Futures exhibition is set to run from 13–23 April 2026, and showcases a curated selection of handmade garments, footwear and jewellery by leading and emerging African designers; highlighting material excellence, innovation, and heritage, inviting collectors and audiences to consider fashion as an enduring artistic legacy.
The programme culminates in an immersive Show and Benefit Auction on 23 April 2026, presented in collaboration with Strauss & Co. The evening will feature a live fashion presentation, an exhibition viewing, curated food and drink, and a fundraising auction in which models will animate the garments before and during bidding – creating a dynamic intersection between runway and auction floor.
All fashion items presented in the exhibition will be offered on auction, alongside a selection of special lots, with approximately 30 pieces available to collectors and guests on the evening. Adding to the evening’s cultural programme, guests will experience a special performance by Cape Town City Ballet.
Proceeds from the benefit auction will support Norval Foundation’s exhibitions, educational programmes, and ongoing cultural initiatives, while directly benefiting the participating designers.
