This November, audiences can look forward to something truly special when the iconic Zip Zap Circus joins forces with well-known South African band Freshlyground for Take Me Home, a once-in-a-lifetime stage production that blends the thrill of circus artistry with the soul of live music.

Take Me Home: A Fusion of Sound, Movement, and Heart
Take Me Home brings together the world-class acrobatics and choreography of Zip Zap Circus’ seasoned performers with Freshlyground’s vibrant sound. This unique collaboration celebrates connection and belonging, offering audiences a rare opportunity to see some of South Africa’s finest circus talent and musicians share one stage.
“Freshlyground’s music has always carried the nation’s spirit of unity and joy,” says Laurence Estève, Zip Zap’s Co-founder and CEO. “Bringing their sound into the world of circus performance elevates the show into something magical. It is an explosion of true South African energy, artistry, and heart.”
Blending African roots with contemporary flair, Freshlyground enters a bold new era with new lead vocalist Mbali Makhoba. With her rich, soulful vocals and magnetic stage presence, Makhoba adds a new dimension to the band’s unmistakable sound. Reimagined as a six-member ensemble, Freshlyground ignites the stage for us again, ready to delight long-time fans and win over new audiences.
Whether you’re a circus enthusiast, a live music lover, or simply in search of an unforgettable night out, Take Me Home promises to move, uplift, and inspire. The production invites audiences to experience a bold new collaboration that fuses sound and spectacle, while also showcasing the power of creativity to connect communities.
It’s an inspiring evening for groups, families, and art lovers alike — and a chance for supporters to see the impact of Zip Zap’s youth programmes brought to life on stage through the incredible young talent nurtured by the organisation’s free social initiatives.
Founded in 1992, Zip Zap Circus is a Cape Town institution that has become a globally recognised symbol of social impact through the arts. Working with over 2,500 beneficiaries annually, Zip Zap offers 9 free youth and outreach programmes that teach circus skills alongside vital life skills, including teamwork, discipline, and resilience.
