The movie, many scenes of which are filmed in the Mother City, promises an indulgence of all things 80s, and a witty retelling of the pop duo’s meteoric rise and fall as one of the world’s biggest acts of the late 80s and early 90s.

International Day of Yoga with Joëlle Sleebos

Yoga-lovers are set to celebrate the International Day of Yoga (21 June) at Rooftop on Bree with international yoga teacher, Joëlle Sleebos, on Sunday 23 June. This day is all about giving back. Yoga teachers, Yoga Volunteers, Holistic Facilitators, Yoga Brands and Yoga Studios will support the EarthChild Project NGO. Each ticket also serves as a donation to the same project, which is dedicated to providing environment, health, self-development, and leadership-based complimentary education to under-resourced schools.

The Little Mermaid at the Canal Walk Children’s Theatre

In this enchanting classic tale by Hans Christian Andersen, an 18-year-old mermaid dreams of living on land. A percentage of each ticket sold, as well as proceeds made from programme sales, are donated to the CHOC Foundation.

Cape Town Opera presents ‘Lucia di Lammermoor’ in Gobbato’s new setting

Cape Town Opera, celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, presents Gaetano Donizetti’s ‘Lucia di Lammermoor’ at Artscape from 14 to 23 June. The opera will then transfer to the Joburg Theatre for a limited season on 25 July 2024. Directed by industry legend and Cape Town Opera’s co-founder and Honorary Patron Angelo Gobbato, and with the inimitable Kamal Khan conducting the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra, ‘Lucia di Lammermoor’ is already enthralling both seasoned opera enthusiasts and newcomers.

Lucia di Lammermoor runs at the Artscape Opera House for five performances only – advance booking is recommended.

Logos Hope Bookfair

Logos Hope Bookfair

The world’s largest floating bookfair, Logos Hope, travels from port to port, remaining in each port for about two weeks and opening the gangways to thousands of visitors each day. This June, the floating fair hits Cape Town’s shores. The book fair offers over 5,000 titles, and 60 different nationalities represent the volunteer crew on board as a genuine expression of international goodwill and understanding.
