The Rupert Museum joins in on the festivities at the Stellenbosch Woordfees with an exciting selection of creative and educational art experiences running from 1 to 5 October. A celebration of culture in Stellenbosch would be somewhat incomplete without the iconic art museum that is so ingrained within the Winelands’ art scene. Artology Discussion with Curator Gerard de Kamper
Join the University of Pretoria’s Museums Curator, Gerard de Kamper for a discussion about Dr Anton Rupert’s involvement at the University, his key donations to the prestigious UP collections, and his private collection.
Selected artworks from the University of Pretoria’s Museums Collection are on display at the Rupert Museum. View a collection of featured works dating from the 20th and 21st century, all masterfully created by South African artists.
De Kamper’s conversation also highlights the work of artists such as Anton van Wouw, Coert Steynberg, Irma Stern, Edoardo Villa, and others. Each ticket includes a cup of coffee or tea from the Museum Café.

Guided Tour with Rupert Museum Curator Eliz-Marié Schoonbee
Take a guided walk with the museum’s curator Eliz-Marié Schoonbee, who offers guests the chance to stroll through and learn about the latest exhibitions on at the Rupert Museum.
This hour-long walkabout focuses on the array of genres and artists forming part of three exhibitions: ‘The Art Collection of Hubertr Rupert’, ‘The Song of Tapestry’ by Jean Lurçat, and ‘Artology: a selection of artworks from the collection of the University of Pretoria Museums’.
Seating is limited, and participants must be willing to walk and stand for approximately an hour. Each booking is accompanied by a coffee or tea voucher to be redeemed at the Museum Café either before or after the day’s tour.

Urban Sketching in Town workshop with Artist Fawa Conradie
Multimedia artist Fawa Conradie presents a workshop where guests draw inspiration from nature and buildings. Participants will sketch with the artist and are welcome to ask questions and build skills for this age-old artistic practice.
Wear comfortable shoes for a walk through the beautiful oak-shaded streets of Stellenbosch’s downtown area.
A variety of drawing techniques, materials, and frames of reference are combined during this workshop. All materials are supplied, and this class is for both beginners and experienced artists.
