The legendary Buddy Holly will be played by popular South African singer-songwriter Jethro Tait, alongside an all-South African cast including stage favourites Bethany Dickson and Keaton Ditchfield, and many more talented performers.

Get ready to rock and roll with all your favourite songs, including “That’ll Be The Day,” “True Love Ways,” “Oh Boy,” “La Bamba,” “Rave On,” “Everyday,” “Johnny B. Goode,” and the timeless classic, “Peggy Sue.” BUDDY is sure to have audiences up on their feet and dancing in the aisles with its engaging and lively performances.

Buddy

The story follows Buddy Holly and his band, the Crickets, as they form a Country & Western band in Lubbock, Texas, with the help of local radio DJ, Hipockets Duncan. After struggling to find success with Decca Records, they sign with innovative producer Norman Petty and churn out hits like “That’ll Be The Day.” However, after marrying his wife Maria Elena Santiago and focusing on a solo career in New York, a rift forms between Holly and the Crickets. Holly then joins “The Winter Dance Party” bus tour in 1959, but tragedy strikes on February 3rd when Holly, Ritchie Valens, and the Big Bopper die in a plane crash during a snowstorm. The show is a celebration of Buddy Holly’s music and life, capturing his innocence, determination, humour, and charm.
