In celebration of David Attenborough’s 99th birthday on 8 May, one of his most remarkable documentary films to date, OCEAN with David Attenborough, will be shown at select Ster-Kinekor cinemas, with a repeat screening on 10 May. Here’s everything you need to know about the screening and the film.

About OCEAN with David Attenborough
OCEAN with David Attenborough takes viewers on a breathtaking journey, showing there is nowhere more vital for our survival, more full of life, wonder, or surprise, than the ocean.
The celebrated broadcaster and filmmaker reveals how his lifetime has coincided with the great age of ocean discovery. Through incredible sequences featuring coral reefs, kelp forests and the open ocean, Attenborough shares why a healthy ocean keeps the entire planet stable and flourishing.
Stunning, immersive cinematography showcases the wonder of life under the seas and exposes the realities and challenges facing our ocean as never-before-seen, from destructive fishing techniques to mass coral reef bleaching. Yet the story is ultimately one of optimism, with Attenborough pointing to inspirational stories from around the world to deliver his greatest message: the ocean can recover to a glory beyond anything anyone alive has ever seen.
In the trailer, Attenborough remarks: “After living for nearly 100 years on this planet, I know understand
the most important place on earth is not on land, but at sea. This is the story of our ocean and how we
must write its next chapter together… For, if we save our sea, we save our world.”
