Nike Cape Town is Planning a Social 5k Pre-marathon Run

There’s no doubt that the running bug has hit Cape Town! With a host of running events, city-wide marathons and running clubs, this has become a popular way to stay fit, socialise and get the thrill of competitions.

Whether you’re just starting your running journey or you’re an experienced distance runner, Nike is excited to support runners to go further, push past your limits and love every run.

The world’s number 1 sneaker brand hosts an energetic warm-up race to get runners participating in the upcoming Two Oceans Marathon race day ready. Nike is also making it easier for road runners to have the cushioning they desire with the release of the Vomero 18, the latest iteration of the springy, soft running sneaker.

Join for a social 5k Shake-Out Run on Friday

Shake off the nerves before the anticipated Two Oceans Marathon or just join for a fun and social evening run. Nike is bringing energy and excitement to their 5km social run around the V&A Waterfront.

The run starts and ends at the Nike Store at the V&A Waterfront on Friday, 4 April at 5pm. Afterwards, grab a coffee, cold brew or artisanal ice cream at one of the many food and entertainment offerings.

The Nike Store opened late in 2024 and features the perfect gear to enhance your run and brings you the best innovations in the world of running. Most of the store displays are made from recycled plastics for an eco-conscious touch. Plus, the highly trained staff will be able to give you top-notch advice to ensure you are running in the perfect footwear for your running style.

The Two Oceans Marathon Expo runs from 2 to 5 April 2025 and will be a meeting space for race participants, running enthusiasts and supporters to gather and celebrate all things running.

Whether or not you’re participating in the Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon 2025 or at the Expo to collect your race pack or not, all are welcome to attend the biggest running-related exhibition Cape Town has to offer at DHL Stadium, Green Point. Find the latest sport, outdoor, adventure and running-related gadgets, gear, shoes, tech, and innovators in one vibey destination.

A highlight at the expo is the Nike activation space, where you can look forward to hands-on experience of their best products, expert advice on equipment and exciting demonstrations. In 2024, the Two Oceans Marathon Expo, South Africa’s largest running-related Expo, attracted 89,000 visitors over three-and-a-half days. There will also be food and drink stalls and live entertainment.
