The cast of Drumstruck have shared the stage with a variety of global performers, including Dolly Parton, Shakira and Will.I.Am, and have entertained audiences across the globe. Every show has its own unique energy as guests are invited to drum along and the audience becomes an intrinsic part of the performance.

Born in Soweto, Mpho Rasenyalo is the Drum Café’s lead facilitator and has been a key member of Drumstruck since 2005. She is an exceptional and multi-talented performer – widely regarded as South Africa’s best female djembe player. Mpho also leads her own marimba band, Basadi le Meropa, and is a qualified Traditional Healer.
Zama Qambi is a marimba player, drummer, and gumboot dance teacher from Nyanga township in Cape Town. He began performing as a gumboot dancer in the early 1980s and joined the Ilitha Dance Group in 1998, performing for Archbishop Desmond Tutu in China in 2000. In 2002, Zama joined the UCT School of Dance, majoring in African Dance, and became part of the renowned Ama-Mbush Marimba Band. He later performed as a percussionist with the Lingua Franca Spoken Word Movement. His international performances include tours in Chicago, England, Oman, and Canada.
Tumelo Seleke, Drumstruck’s Dance Captain, is a gifted singer, dancer, actor, choreographer, and drummer. He began dancing at a young age with the African Theatre and Dance Company before joining Africa Umoja, where he performed professionally as a theatre practitioner.
Over his career, Tumelo has performed in more than 30 countries worldwide. His journey with the Drum Café began with the Shebeen Show, before he advanced to become a drummer and later a facilitator. In 2019, he starred in the hit musical African Footprint during its Dubai season.

Lungelwa Mdivasi, born on March 22, 1991, is a dynamic South African artist whose life pulses with rhythm, creativity, and a passion for sharing her craft. A masterful marimba player, vocalist, dancer, and percussionist, Lungelwa has carved a unique space in the world of performing arts, captivating audiences with her infectious energy and multifaceted talents.
Hailing from South Africa, Lungelwa’s journey as a musician began with her deep connection to the marimba, an instrument she wields with precision and soul. Her performances are a celebration of African heritage, blending traditional rhythms with contemporary flair. Whether she’s performing with acclaimed groups like Women Unite, Marimba Vibrations, or Drumstruck, Lungelwa’s presence on stage is magnetic, leaving audiences inspired and uplifted.
Originally from Nyanga East in Cape Town, Sakhele Makaluza grew up surrounded by music and dance. He trained under Dizu Plaatjies through the University of Cape Town’s Outreach Music Programme.
As a dancer and percussionist, Sakhele has performed with the Mama Africa Miriam Makeba Show, touring internationally, and has also appeared at the Cape Town Carnival as well as Artscape and Baxter theatres. He joined the cast of Drumstruck at Silvermist in 2024, bringing his deep musical roots and infectious stage presence to the production.
