Join the Cape Orchid Society for an extraordinary weekend where the world of fine wines meets the delicate beauty of orchids. With a long and rich heritage behind it, Constantia Uitsig is passionate about sustainability in all its forms and is working towards becoming a haven for indigenous flora and birds.
Flowers also play a central theme at Uitsig, which is why it’s a perfect fit for the Cape Orchid Society’s Annual Autumn show!
Orchid fans, house plant parents and garden enthusiasts are in for a treat with this event, which is taking place from Saturday 12 to Sunday 13 April at the Wine Cellar at Constantia Uitsig.
This FREE event allows members of the public to come and enjoy superbly grown orchids in larger-than-life displays. A vast variety of orchids and supplies, as well as other plants, will be on sale – and a collection of high-quality orchids will be up for grabs on a raffle for only R20 per ticket.

A world of gorgeous orchids for show and sale
The Cape Orchid Society Autumn Show is one of two annual events hosted by the society each year. Members of the society, as well as private growers, will showcase their best specimens of these stunning flowers for one weekend only. The show also offers the public a chance to experience the beauty of the orchid world while learning about the society’s work.
A range of expert vendors will be present to tempt you with their plant offerings, provide essential advice and encouragement, and offer plenty of orchid supplies to keep your new purchases happy.

Explore the Cape Floral Kingdom orchid collection
Did you know that 241 native orchid species have been recognised in the Cape Floral Kingdom? Considering the relatively small size of the area, this is an impressive number. Due to their unique adaptations to survive in often harsh conditions, Cape Orchids evolved to thrive here. However, many of these species are now under threat – of the 1,700 threatened plant species in the region, 70 are orchids.
The Cape Orchid Society is committed to promoting the conservation of indigenous orchids in the Western Cape. Our projects aim to propagate rare and endangered orchid species and repopulate areas where these orchids are under threat or have gone extinct. We work with conservation agencies, research institutions, and citizen- science organisations to ensure the sustainability of our conservation efforts.
