Who is Ayra Starr
Singer Ayra Starr’s real name is Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe. She was born and raised in Cotonou, Benin, but currently resides in Lagos, Nigeria where her music career began.
In early 2021, Starr released her first full-length album, 19 & Dangerous in 2021. The Afropop and R&B mixtape made it onto many Top 40 lists thanks to the lead single ‘Bloody Samaritan’ featuring Kelly Rowland and ‘Rush’, which is her biggest hit to date. The song charted in several territories, including South Africa, Switzerland, Ireland and the UK, and it earned Starr her first nomination at the 2024 Grammy Awards for Best African Music Performance.
With the song, Starr became the youngest African Female Artist to surpass 100 Million views on a single video on YouTube, and also the first to do so within 5 months. Ayra holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations and Political Science from Les Cours Sonou University in Benin.
When is Ayra Starr coming to Cape Town?
The ‘Bloody Samaritan’ singer is visiting Johannesburg for only one performance on Friday, 16 February 2024 as part of her South African tour – another concert is planned for Johannesburg on Saturday, 17 February. The Cape Town performance will take place at the intimate dining and lounge space at V&A Waterfront.

Ayra will perform a curated lineup of her best hits to date at Cabo Beach Club, V&A Waterfront. Confirmed supporting acts for the show include Musa Keys, Kash, and Cuito.
