Cape Town Opera presents a free lunch hour concert for all music lovers this week at the Artscape. They then team up with the Cape Town Philharmonic for an Easter show on Saturday, featuring Gabriel Fauré’s Requiem.

Opera On The Go – Free One-Hour Concert
Opera and music lovers can look forward to a captivating, free lunchtime concert featuring highlights from upcoming productions at Artscape, Theatre on the Bay, and the Toringkerk in Paarl.
Audiences will be treated to excerpts from Verdi’s Aida, Fauré’s Requiem, and Rossini’s The Barber of Seville. The concert will showcase outstanding sopranos as well as the renowned Cape Town Opera Chorus performing stirring choral selections from Aida and Requiem, the latter of which will be presented in full at the Paarl Toringkerk on 19 April 2025.
CTO Judith Neilson Young Artists, including the talented Sisikelelwe Mngenela and Mongezi Mosoaka, will also take the stage at Opera On The Go. The singers will be accompanied by CTO vocal coach Jan Hugo on piano throughout.

Cape Town Opera and Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra Presents Gabriel Fauré’s Requiem
Conducted by British maestro Gary Matthewman, the programme will feature Cape Town Opera Judith Neilson Young Artist Sisikelelwe Mngenela and Cape Town Opera House Soloist Conroy Scott as soloists.They will be joined by the Cape Town Opera Chorus, Children’s Chorus, and the Symphony Choir of Cape Town.
The concert will also include Mozart’s Kyrie in D minor, K. 341 and Laudate Dominum, K. 339, Fauré’s Cantique de Jean Racine, Op. 11, and Franck’s Panis Angelicus, Op. 12, offering a rich tapestry of sacred music to mark the Easter celebration.
