The Hyatt Regency Cape Town hotel has just announced the opening of Bo-Kaap Souk, a high-end confectionary and dessert cafe that honours the unique culinary traditions of Cape Malay cuisine. The cafe serves an exquisite selection of cakes, tartlets, pastries, and other confections as well as a new high tea, all inspired by traditional Cape Malay recipes in the Bo-Kaap. Bo-Kaap Souk fuses Cape Malay food culture with a modern flair

Bo-Kaap Souk opened on 15 July 2024 and promises a luxurious cultural experience where modern and traditional elements blend seamlessly. This dessert cafe is housed within the prestigious Hyatt Regency Hotel, and the interiors are highlighted by elegance and an inviting atmosphere where you can gather with family and friends.

Nicolaas Van Der Walt, Group Executive Pastry Chef, says: “We invite everyone to join us and indulge in the luxurious flavours and inviting ambience that Bo-Kaap Souk has to offer”.

On the menu is a charming selection of cakes, tartlets, pastries, macarons, bonbons, confections, and cookies. Chef Nicolaas and his team are inspired by the culture and craft of traditional Cape Malay recipes when curating the menu offering. For those who prefer to sample individual treats, an item-priced menu allows for an individual’s pairing choices and sweet ‘takeaways’.

Try their new high tea experience with a local twist

Bo-Kaap Souk is now the newest restaurant in the CBD where you can head for afternoon tea with a South African twist. Their high tea serving features a choice of seven carefully curated items and a pot of tea.
