If you’re wondering where to head for a gastro-inspired lunch in Constantia, Bistro Sixteen82 recently unveiled their Hearty & Homely Winter Lunch menu running for the colder season. After all, what better way to spend a chilly winter’s afternoon than sipping on the best Constantia wines while tucking into a tasty treat or three? We break down what to look forward to for this limited lunchtime dining offer.
What’s on the winter menu at Bistro Sixteen82?
Steenberg Farm is home to a number of dining experiences. But for Bistro Sixteen82, Executive Chef Kerry Kilpin remains laser-focused on curating a menu for the South African palate. That doesnt necessarily mean South African cuisine, but rather elevating foods and flavours that we are somewhat familiar with. Chef Kerry has always remained steadfast in her dedication to Asian cuisine which spurred from her travels. And the new menu is no different.
Start by breaking bread which comes baked in artisanal style, followed by a complimentary “something from the kitchen.”
For starters, choose between crispy chicken livers with citrus-infused soba noodles and a spring onion slaw, or a pickled fish bao bun that adds an edgy touch to this South African classic. If you’re hard-pressed, you cannot go wrong with the roasted pepper and coriander seed soup.
Heading into mains, our suggested standout dish is the ethically sourced Cape Bream stacked in between crispy fish potstickers, a zesty Asian salad, and topped with a sour vinaigrette. A dish that comes both decadent and extremely hearty. Years back when the Abalobi sustainable fishing concept launched, Chef Kerry incorporated their daily catch into her menus. Abalobi uses tech to give diners an insight into their operations and a chance to find out more about the small-scale fishers who supply the restaurant. Further options for mains include braised beef with spinach and ricotta gnocchi, and a corn and leek risotto with sundried tomato pesto.
Finish off with a slice of Chocolate Marquise plated beautifully with macadamia streusel and seasonal berries, a crispy almond brioche, or a baked coconut Crème Caramel.

You’ll find Bistro Sixteen82 right next to the wine-tasting space at Steenberg Farm. The restaurant in Constantia boasts an indoor seating area with modern finishes and accents of nature. Their beautiful outdoor patio is quite popular and leads to the water feature that captures Cape Town living at its best. Here you can expect beautiful mountain views and vineyard scenery.
