And Yet We Imagine, a new participatory art exhibition being held at the Desmond and Leah Tutu Foundation, has opened its doors to the public. This forward-thinking exhibition invites both artists and the public to collaboratively explore visions of a just and sustainable future – an especially urgent endeavor in light of today’s social and environmental challenges. Here’s everything you need to know.

All About the Exhibition
Co-curated by artists Sarah Robyn Farrell and Claire Rousell, and led by the Climate Lounge in collaboration with DearTomorrow, And Yet We Imagine sets the stage for vital conversations about our shared future.
The showcase marks the culmination of six months of collaborative creativity and knowledge exchange. At its core, it explores the powerful intersection of art and socio-environmental concerns, igniting collective imagination in the face of pressing global challenges.
A tapestry of voices is represented through the work of poets, painters, sound and performance artists, and a moving archive of letters written to the future. Some letters come from South Africans deeply engaged in the climate justice movement, while others are written by children and individuals from around the world.
These letters are more than just messages – they acted as sources of inspiration for the participating artists, guiding and shaping their creative journeys.

About the Desmond and Leah Tutu Foundation
Founded in 2011, the Tutu Legacy Foundation strives to preserve the legacy of one of the world’s most iconic leaders, Desmond Tutu, and his long-term partner Leah, while taking their example into the future by growing and facilitating powerful and courageous voices of uncompromised bravery in the world.
The Foundation aims to nurture young leaders through education and enrichment programmes and deep, courageous conversation. The facilitation of reconciliation – one of Tutu’s main values – is also a vital aim of the Foundation.
And Yet We Imagine is a perfect example of a project that highlights the values of the Tutus – a project that advocates for social and environmental healing, giving a voice to those courageous enough to speak up, and creating awareness on key world issues.
