Experience Wimbledon Luxury with A Game of Grace Afternoon Tea

In honour of the biggest tennis tournament in the world, Cape Grace is once again hosting a special, Championships-inspired Afternoon Tea for tennis lovers and fine dining enthusiasts in the Mother City.

While Wimbledon gets underway halfway across the world, guests at the Cape Grace are treated to a luxury afternoon at Heirloom Restaurant, the hotel’s very own elegant dining space. To match the occasion, the restaurant is transformed, echoing the tournament’s aesthetic with vibrant greens and crisp whites. Here, guests can watch the biggest games live while indulging in an authentic English tea experience and enjoying views of the marina and Table Mountain.

The sweet treats are just as on theme: a chocolate racket, Battenberg cake, and the return of the edible tennis ball – reimagined as a vanilla and peach mousse tartlet. Savoury options are kept close to the authentic Wimbledon style, with finger sandwiches, freshly baked scones, free-range coronation chicken, and a light fish & chips canapé.

The drinks menu is its own premium experience. Guests are treated to the signature Cape Grace No. 96 gin before being offered the hotel’s own tea blend – a mix of Cederberg rooibos, spices, and herbs. Cape Grace retains its diverse range of teas, with scented oolong blue, flavoured green, and pure white, all available while watching the world’s best tennis players. Those who enjoy a fruity beverage can try the bespoke gin and Pimm’s trolley, while non-drinkers are invited to sip on the hotel’s iced tea.

Whether an avid tennis fanatic or simply there to enjoy a luxurious afternoon, guests are encouraged to dress up in classic whites or anything vaguely tennis-inspired.

A Game of Grace is served throughout the Wimbledon Championships, ending on the day of the Gentlemen’s Singles Finals. Booking in advance is recommended.
