Quiver Cafe, the latest programme by the Quiver Foundation, is all about giving men the opportunity to rebuild their lives after dealing with homelessness and substance abuse. 100% of profits go to their cause, and all cafe employees are survivors on the road to recovery.

All about Quiver Foundation

In a city where 15% of the entire population is addicted to substances, and 95% of the large homeless community are substance abusers, Quiver Foundation is all about empowering recovering adults with the opportunity to find a way out.

The registered nonprofit organisation, which started in response to the dramatic increase in substance abuse and homelessness post-COVID, addresses this major issue in several ways. At its Woodstock location, it houses and feeds men undergoing rehabilitation. Since 97% of people in South Africa return to addiction within 12 months, one of the Foundation’s most important missions is providing various mentorship and training programmes that provide these men with avenues for practical self-improvement and keep them off the streets after rehab.

The organisation uses a four-step “solution” programme. The first step, Reach, helps the group connect with their community and raise awareness about recovery. Recover is all about ensuring those struggling with substance abuse and addiction have access to proper rehabilitation services, after which they stay at Quiver’s safe accommodation and are given opportunities for vital health and welfare services (Rebuild). Reintegrate is the final step, and supports those in recovery in finding long-term employment while giving them financial coaching and life-skills development, which is where Quiver Cafe comes in.

The cafe opened to a lot of buzz in September 2026 after growing from a mobile coffee cart to a full-blown, sit-down coffee shop.

Open four days a week, Quiver Cafe already has a detailed food and beverage menu with very affordable prices. Coffee fiends can get all their favourites, from Americanos and flat whites to mochas and cortados. Anyone with a sweet tooth can get their fix with the R45 Belgian hot chocolate alongside their range of Belgian waffles (particularly the all-Biscoff one), with the option to add Oreos and ice cream.

The Coffee & Waffle Tasting experience is another fan favourite, offering guests a curated pairing of three coffees and three mini Liège waffles to try for only R125. They also sell savoury waffles, including a ham and Parmesan, melted cheddar, and one with pesto cream cheese, sun-dried tomatoes, and fresh basil.

Inside Quiver Cafe is a cosy space that’s ideal for catching up with a friend or working remotely, with free board games for visitors to enjoy while sipping on a hot drink.
