Caryl’s Bistro at Esona Boutique Wine Estate

This cute bistro is a must-visit spot for food lovers in the Robertson area, offering something for every palate. The menu features hearty breakfasts, flavourful platters, cheesy pizzas, and juicy burgers, with a dedicated kids’ menu for families.

Beyond the dining experience, visitors can explore Caryl’s Little Shoppe, stocked with unique treats like cordials, olive-based products, lavender items, and a selection of wines. Located on Esona Boutique Wine Estate, the bistro pairs its delicious meals with the estate’s rich winemaking heritage and scenic charm, creating an experience that’s both welcoming and memorable.

Graze Deli at Excelsior Wine Estate

Situated on the banks of a tranquil dam, Graze Deli offers a relaxing spot to enjoy fresh homemade vetkoeke with gourmet fillings, alongside a variety of light meals and platters that cater to all tastes. The menu changes monthly, providing guests with new culinary delights each time they visit.

With a large lawn area perfect for children, the deli is family-friendly, with a jungle gym, sandpit, and even opportunities to feed horses. In the summer months, a child-minder is available to entertain the little ones while parents unwind.

Located at Excelsior Wine Estate, known for its long history and scenic vineyard views, Graze Deli also invites visitors to explore the estate’s wine tasting offerings or enjoy a peaceful walk along the farm’s grounds.

Café Maude at Bon Courage Wine Estate

Café Maude offers a perfect place to enjoy a relaxed meal at Bon Courage Wine Estate. The on-site restaurant serves a variety of light meals, fresh salads, and creative sandwiches, all thoughtfully made to complement the estate’s renowned wines.

Whether you’re savouring a delicious lunch under the shade of an old African pepper tree or warming up by the fireplace in the new indoor dining area during the colder months, Café Maude provides a cosy atmosphere for both locals and tourists.

With the added charm of an owl and her chicks nesting in the tree above, dining here is an experience as memorable as the wines produced at Bon Courage!

Kapokbos at Weltevrede Wine Estate

Located on a family-owned estate with a history dating back to 1820, the Kapokbos Restaurant offers a truly unique dining experience. Chefs Juan and Samantha Morris-Fourie, a husband-and-wife team with a rich culinary background, bring their expertise from prestigious kitchens around the world to create dishes that perfectly complement the wines produced at Weltevrede Wine Estate.

Their menu showcases fresh, seasonal ingredients and pairs beautifully with the estate’s renowned wines, including its celebrated Chardonnay and Cap Classique.

Visitors to the restaurant also have the chance to engage with Weltevrede’s winemaking process, with opportunities to create their own bottle of sparkling wine and explore the estate’s underground cellar and riddling room, making it a memorable destination for both food and wine lovers.

River Cruises at Viljoensdrift

This list wouldn’t be complete without including the deli at Viljoensdrift. While you can order some basic meals there, the most visitors prefer to fill a picnic basket with gourmet treats and Viljoensdrift wines and then head out on the flat-bottomed boat, Uncle Ben 2. The 50-minute journey on the tranquil waters of the Breede River offers breathtaking views of indigenous trees like Breede River Yellowwood and Wild Olive, home to diverse bird species.

Perfect for a relaxing outing with family or friends, this leisurely cruise is an idyllic way to embrace the beauty of the river and its surroundings. Advanced booking is essential, and all food and beverages must be purchased on-site.
