Wine Events in Cape Town: Norval Foundation is Launching a New Wine and Art Event Series

Norval Foundation is starting a new Wine and Art event series, Wine & Art at Norval Foundation, where guests can meet winemakers and explore art in an intimate setting. Future events at this gallery in Constantia Valley will bring fresh ways to explore excellent cuisine, stunning wine-tasting events and more.

Winemaker and viticulturist, Miles Mossop

Meet the winemaker at this food and drink pairing dinner

This first dinner event in Cape Town runs on Thursday, 3 August features winemaker and viticulturist Miles Mossop who heads a boutique winery in Stellenbosch.

Meet and mingle with Mossop, taste some of the label’s best offerings, and find out what makes their wine style so unique. Mossop’s wines are handcrafted with finesse and elegance but still show aspects of power and fruit concentration, having great texture while maintaining balance.

The chef’s team at Skotnes Restaurant is crafting a delicious 3-course pairing menu to accentuate the wines through culinary delights. Expect a sophisticated dining space with glass walls boasting views of the sculpture gardens and mountains looming in the background.

Night at the museum

Norval Foundation galleries will remain open to allow dinner guests to see the art exhibitions currently on show, with a welcome drink in hand. There are two exhibitions from female artists, as well as a private art collection from Frank and Lizelle Kilbourn.

Berni Searle specialises in lens-based media, especially photography and video, and often uses her own body to create complex images or narratives that are open to various interpretations that transcend place or time.

Having but little Gold includes a range of works from the artist’s career, starting with the early photographs and videos that utilised Searle’s naked body, coloured with spices and stained with black Egyptian henna, in the Colour Me and Discoloured series respectively.

The Maggie Laubser: Portraits and the Landscape 1886 – 1973 shines a spotlight on the portrait painter and her lifelong interest in expressive landscapes. This exhibition commemorates her artistic output fifty years after her death. The collection of portraits is hung chronologically to give the viewer a tonal shift of Laubser’s style, different influences and varied concerns over the years.
