MultiChoice & FAME Week Africa Want Your Reality TV Pitch

Africa’s leading entertainment company, MultiChoice Group, owned by CANAL+, is teaming up with FAME Week Africa for an open call to South African producers to propose bold, new entertainment and reality shows for premium channels.

The idea is simple: pitch an original, ambitious show concept that can be explained in one sentence, with diverse casts that speak to various cultures and support multiple seasons. Here’s everything Cape Town’s creatives need to know.

What MultiChoice are looking for

They want entertainment concepts with an immediate hook that go beyond watch-it-and-forget and become cultural events discussed during and after airing. Preferred genres include reinvented game and talent shows, thought-provoking social experiments, adaptations of existing IP, and dating shows with a twist.

The content should captivate audiences through engaging storytelling, dynamic pacing, strong narrative arcs, and well-paced tension. Execution is just as important, and proposals should show a bold artistic direction, a self-aware point of view, and the potential for high-quality production that goes beyond conventional free-to-air TV.

Ideas that can travel across African markets and develop into recurring franchises are highly in demand. Formatting should be scalable to other MultiChoice regions, remain cost-efficient, and not rely on large-scale financing.

Producers must submit a PDF creative treatment, a proposed format/season structure (length & number of episodes), and an estimated project budget. The Creative Vision section covers the concept’s hook and why it would appeal to audiences, while Format Mechanics outlines the underlying rules of the show that create tension and twists.

Storytelling and Pace outline the proposed seasonal and episodic structure, Talent and Casting explain who would participate and why, and Editorial DNA proves why the concept should be a premium MultiChoice Group property. Finally, in Global Franchise Potential, submissions must state whether the concept can sustain multiple seasons and address how it could be adapted to different cultures and countries.

More information is available on the FAME Week website.

More about the selection process

Proposals must be sent by 12 October 2026. MultiChoice Group’s selection committee will review them against the creative, editorial, audience, and scalability criteria outlined in the brief.

Shortlisted producers will then be invited to pitch their projects live at FAME Week Africa 2026, presenting directly to MultiChoice’s panel and responding to their questions. This gives creatives the opportunity to explain the ins and outs of their concept while actively engaging with decision-makers on key areas such as financial viability, creative potential, and how it could work across multiple markets.

Proposals can be submitted via the Google Form. Send any queries to [email protected].

The Call for Projects forms part of FAME Week Africa’s continued focus on connecting African producers and creators directly with broadcasters, commissioners and platforms actively looking for new content.

When: Submissions close on 12 October 2026 @ 11.59pm | FAME Week takes place from 28 October – 1 November 2026
Where: CTICC 2, Corner of Heerengracht & Rua Bartholomeu Dias, Cape Town
