Cape Town comedian Yaaseen Barnes brings his new stand-up hour, Just Jokes, to the Homecoming Centre for three performances across two nights.
The show centres on the value of not taking things too seriously, built around the argument that South Africa produces some of the funniest people on Earth and that shared laughter is a form of survival, even when the news cycle and daily life give people plenty to be anxious about. Barnes works through everyday observations and personal stories, aiming for a set that feels conversational rather than rehearsed.
He has previously shared stages with comedians Dalin Oliver and KG Mokgadi on the Titans of Comedy bill, building a following through club sets and online clips before stepping into a full solo hour.
