Event information
Downward Dog for Dogs marks World Animal Day with a beginner-friendly outdoor yoga flow for people and their leashed dogs on the Sea Point seafront. Attendees without a dog are welcome, and shelter dogs are on hand to join the flow.
Downward Dog for Dogs began in 2016 as a once-off charity yoga class and is now a registered non-profit that raises funds, donations and awareness for animal shelters. It has partnered with Paws-a-While on its World Animal Day celebrations on 4 October since 2021. Paws-a-While promotes responsible pet ownership and adoption, and focuses on large-scale sterilisation campaigns in underserved communities.
Registration is required through the Downward Dog for Dogs website. Entry takes the form of a pet food donation, which is passed on to animal shelters, and the first 25 people to register receive a gift from LUSH.
The session takes place on the open promenade, so dogs must be kept on a leash throughout.
