Big-wave surfer and adventurer Chris Bertish speaks at Workshop17 Watershed as part of Workshop Wednesday, a monthly talk series marking its first anniversary.
The conversation, titled Maverick Waves to Atlantic Crossings, covers the planning, preparation and decision-making behind Bertish's 93-day, 7,500km solo and unsupported stand-up paddleboard crossing of the Atlantic in 2017, a world record. Bertish also won the Mavericks big-wave surfing competition in 2010. The talk draws parallels between the discipline required for extreme expeditions and the pressures of business leadership and decision-making.
Wine and snacks are included, and seating is limited. All ticket proceeds go to the Chris Bertish Foundation, which is funding a circular-economy school classroom in Northern Kenya and reforestation projects through tree planting.
