Event information
The Word N Sound International Youth Poetry Festival came about as a way to celebrate the work put in throughout the year by the company that produces it. The festival was cemented in 2012 and has run in the first week of October every year.
The festival has been known to headline international poets, such as US poet, Alysia Harris and Italian poet, Alessandro Lutman. Long lasting networks and exchange programmes have come out of these intercontinental connections.
The festival runs with a different theme every year allowing diverse youth voices to tackle topical and pertinent issues ranging from identity and sexuality to socio-economic politics. As it is the company’s mission to empower and impact the youth positively, the Word N Sound International Youth Poetry Festival features open mic sessions, workshops, dialogues, digital collaborations and the Word N Sound Poetry League finale and showcase performances.
