Event information
Wonderdal offers an immersive and interactive edutainment experience, blending creative design, award-winning educational resources and world-class technology, to combine learning with play.
At Wonderdal children aged 5 to13 can discover the worlds of science, nutrition and nature across a variety of indoor and outdoor activity zones. With the colourful Amuki characters as their virtual guides, and trained WonderPals to supervise, young adventurers can look forward to a fun day out discovering a world of wonder and knowledge.
Wonderdal takes a holistic and unique approach to children’s education and entertainment. It combines high-tech and virtual reality games with creative interior design and interactive work and play areas to teach children about subjects from the South African National Schools’ Curriculum with a focus on Natural Sciences and Life Skills. It also develops children’s fine and gross motor skills, as well as problem solving, critical and creative thinking skills.
There are seven interactive learning zones at Wonderdal. These include a Tinker Workshop for tinkering with child-safe electric circuitry, the Tree of Light where the kids can generate an impressive light and sound display through the clever use of a hand-crank energy game, the Wonder Garden for an immersive gardening experience, the Health Kitchen, the Story Cave, Brain Teaser Islands to develop problem-solving and critical thinking, and the Wildlands, a beautiful and innovative outside play area.
The experience happens at the historic Hazendal Wine Estate, which offers an array of culinary, cultural and outdoor experiences for parents to enjoy whilst the children are occupied. The estate offers approximately 1000m² of indoor and outdoor areas, which makes it an ideal space for an exciting outing all year round.
